According to this article, Takahashi's new radio drama will air on NHK Radio No. 1 every Sunday from tomorrow (July 19). The casts are only two, so they have to play a lot of characters. The title of each episode is as follows.

I found the 13 episode box set online for a very reasonable price, and it just came in the mail today.

I've only seen the first two episodes, but wow, what an absolutely charming show! Just goes to show how creative a mind she is- not only can she spin incredibly entertaining stories out of the wacky like Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura, but she can create these really creative and engaging stories out of elements from mundane, everyday life (though, granted, I don't know how...

I know that her bread and butter has been shonen manga, going way back to Urusei Yatsura, and she's great at it (I love Ranma 1/2- in fact I borrowed a couple of Ranma books from the library today) but in my opinion her best, most emotionally satisfying and well written work is Maison Ikkoku, published in the seinen magazine Big Comic Spirits.

I like the fact that Maison Ikkoku wasn't very outlandish or gimmicky, it was a very "normal" story with some powerful but...

Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up, but this is purely hypothetical.

I was thinking the other day about all the Takahashi series in progress or untranslated in America, and weekly manga magazines in Japan like Shonen Sunday. Then I had the idea: What if Viz printed a magazine dedicated solely to Rumiko Takahashi?
With 19 volumes of InuYasha left, Kyokai no Rinne just starting, Urusei Yatsura having yet to see its completion, and numerous short stories that haven't made it...

All this talk about Takahashi-sensei's new series makes me think back to when I first started reading Ranma 1/2, my first experience with her manga. I was young and was first attracted by Genma panda. Then I kept reading it because the relationships were so engaging.

I'm on a couple of other anime web forums, and I've heard quite a few complaints about how Inuyasha went on way too long, that she doesn't know how to end a series, how she's a terrible artist, etc.

We were watching Inuyasha and my son commented, "I think Rumiko Takahashi must be a dog person. All her good characters are dogs." It got me thinking. Inuyasha being the most prominent, but Soichiro was a dog in MI (and yet, Kyoko was a kitten/cat). And yes there were cat spirits in Ranma and (I think) UY. But the cat spirit in Ranma was hardly anything one could well regard. Seemed like a big pain in the a-- if you ask me. I just wonder, do you think Takahashi is a dog...
