Holy Cow! Agatha Christie Anime?!

Omigod, I just found out that there's an anime based on Agatha Christie's stories starring Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot called (rather creatively) Agatha Christie's Great Detectives Poirot and Marple. Being the murder mystery geek I am, I find this very very cool Even if the show sucks I'm sure it's highly amusing nonetheless Has anybody seen it,...

So...is anyone going to Anime Expo this summer? Or are u scared of L.A?

Now that we are nearing summer time, I was just curious if anyone was going to Anime Expo this year here in socal
and if they were cosplaying.

There was a big concern on the AX messageboard from last year for the fact that this year's attendees are going to
drastically drop due to the fact that it will be held in Los Angeles instead of "safe" Anaheim next to Disneyland. According to some posts on the AX board, parents won't let their kids go to L.A....

comics and merchandising

I know how popular the Rumic merchandise is, as well as the fun of collecting it. But do any of you feel that licensing one's characters ("selling out" if you will) is kind of a step in the wrong direction? Especially if the writing and the original product starts to take a backseat to the plush dolls, greeting cards, animated versions, etc. These days it seems like more people are more familiar with Garfield as a car window ornament and Snoopy as a MetLife salesdog.

News indicates a 6.8 hit near the east cost of Honshu, Japan. It wasn't more specific, so I don't know exactly where they are referencing. That was one of 7 or so tremors recorded over 5.0. I made a slight mention of this on the IY board last week, but on Monday morning I'm leaving for Japan to visit Hoshi Shouri. Since I'm the last of the three webmasters to actually go to Japan it was way overdue. I'm going to try to take lots of pictures and post 'em here and keep everyone up to date on what's going on over there and everything I see. Who here has discovered this? I visited my cousins back east last week, and one of them introduced me to it; said she'd become hooked. I tried a little; it's almost like horchata--but with weird chewy balls of tapioca at the bottom. I'd recommend it if your local Asian market has any.

Heh, when my cousin first mentioned it, I thought she was saying Bubble Tape, so I was a little confused when she said she was crazy about it.

Around a year ago I posted a thread about combining cutesy couple names but I noticed there were some new people coming here since then, others had been gone like myself, and I wanted to see if anyone came up with anything else.

This was for cute names to combine couples like for instance for Inaba and Shinobu I call them "Shinaba."
Last year there were some interesting name combinations. Someone even had a "Kunoiki" ^_^

Reading manga in bookstores...any opinions?

Hey all! I would love some opinions on something I've been thinking about recently (I don't know why). I don't know if this is just in my area, but whenever I go to a Barnes & Noble or a Borders, there is sure to be somebody hanging out by the manga section reading manga. I don't mean just skimming through a book to see if it looks interesting - I mean sitting down with the book and reading it from cover to cover, then putting it back on the shelf. I'm sure this...

Hullo!!

I just wanted to get everyone's views on this diet technique virtually EVERYONE keeps telling me to try b/c I'm trying to shed some pounds before Anime Expo as well as some other cons...

Everyone keeps telling me "eat whatever you want but in small portions, eat like 6-8 small meals a day." They also mention to have a 'cheat day' where you eat whatever junk just for that day.

Does this small meals/constant snacking ever work for...

Gonzo airs new anime on Youtube and Crunchyroll...

Gonzo is airing two of their latest anime shows on Youtube and Crunchyroll the same time it airs in Japan with English subtitles.
The two shows are Blassreiter, a 13 episode Sci-Fi series and The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk, a 13 episode Fantasy-Adventure series.

Between the two, The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk seems to be the better show, the animation quality is also better.

This is an interesting move for Gonzo to stream their latest anime shows on...

Since you have the experience with this game....

I still fly warhawks in the default control mode. Do you do that as well, do you use advanced mode or whatever it's called with the sticks, or dop you use the motion sensing method? Beijing Olympics

So...what does everyone think of the Olympics being held in Beijing this year? Back when they were awarded, the Chinese authorities said they'd clean up their act on human rights, and literally clean up Beijing's air. Yet the Tibet crackdown seems to disprove that, and I haven't heard the best news about air quality. These Games are probably not going to have a whole lot of viewers, considering the large recent protests along the torch relay (in San Francisco, some people somehow...
