Kikyou's first kiss with Inuyasha wasn't romantic. She was casting a spell on him so she could drag him to hell. When Inu next kissed Kikyou and when Sango kissed Miroku, those weren't romantic. They were kisses goodbye. The Inu-Kag kiss in the second movie wasn't romantic. It was Kagome's desperate last-ditch...

I wanted to see more, too. It seems that's the final consensus. Most everyone wanted a kiss, but is fine without one.

But, I have to say, my heart pretty much echo's dipinmilk's. The ending was nice, but my tummy is still rumbling for that one sweet kiss, for dessert. The romance is incomplete without it.

Chauvinistic? Well, I wouldn't go that far. Okay, let me put things a different way. I just don't think Kagome and Inuyasha got the ending they deserved. I would have preferred to see them get more rewards; like a nice hut, cute kids, and some intimate physical affection. Yeah, the villagers might appreciate them, but it's the ones who are closest to your heart that count the most, and we didn't get to see enough of the joys in Kagome and Inuyasha's life together.

Yeah... I do think there are some cultural differences afoot here in how people are viewing this ending. I could be wrong but this is a far more typically Japanese resolution than a Western one. This also brings in...

Chauvanistic? - no. It's more a lack of romance. I love the deep relationship which Kagome and Inuyasha share, but I think I would have liked a kiss at some point. Altogether, I'm not completely...

I'll grant you the invisible hut, but the lack of a kiss is just wrong. And, Haro, am I wrong when I say that he kissed Kikyo more than once? Does anyone have the totals on that?
Pretty much all the arguements against a kiss falls flat when you conisder his kissing Kikyo.

I said it was an awkward marriage because of the lack of kissing, the lack of communication of their plans, and the fact that she is marrying someone who...

RT's ending to Inuyasha left a lot unsaid, but provides enough clues that a reader can infer what's unsaid. But clues are open to multiple interpretations.

I took Inu-Kag being outdoors as just that, them going about their daily business. I interpreted these scenes as indications they have settled down to make a home of their own in the village, with no more roughing it outdoors. I didn't need to see their actual house, I presume there is one.

Ryougasgirl, I agree about Kagome's role, she's almost been relegated to "herb-picker". I know she's dressed in Miko clothes, but she doesn't even have her bow anymore! So does she have any powers anymore?

I never said ALL she did was pick herbs, but after all the upgrades and watching Miroku and Inuyasha use their powers against a youkai, i would have liked to see Kagome get in on the action as well. i have no doubt that...

If you look at all of the (manga) flashbacks with Kikyou, that's the same kind of stuff we saw her doing 90% of the time as well. Actually, same goes...

And, for goodness sake, where is Kagome supposed to live? She can't live her whole life under Kaede's hospitality. The ending seemed to imply that the two of them would continue to rough-it outdoors. You can't tell me that's okay. After everything that Kagome had to give up, she marries him, and he doesn't bother to put a house together for her? That's almost a blatant refusal to settle down, which implies that there is still a lack of commitment.

I agree with Dip, Kikyo's death scene was way more poignant. And I find it kind of unfair that Kagome had to leave her family FOREVER! I could NEVER do that, I'm reluctant just to move to another province, let alone another, well, somewhere where I would never see them again.

And currently, trends are moving towards women getting married at older ages (ie closer to 30), so that is actually very old fashioned.

Well, we've filled up yet another topic, so we'll continue here. Chapter 513 and onward...

I was surprised to see a new incarnation, but I have a feeling this one will be along the lines of Goshinki and Juromaru/Kageromaru in that he'll probably only last for this story. Though the foreshadowing of the demons at the beginning accosting Sesshomaru, Rin and Kohaku, it seems this demon may retrieve Kohaku's shard, especially since he "came from the jewel".
