Hoshi & Yoiko, thanks for all the useful info !
She is allergic to seafood and now I know she has a good reason to be worried - if seafood sneaks into all sorts of food. However if she loses weight over
there she'll be happy, because she has to wear dress pants to work which she normally does not wear. (That's such a girl thing, huh... yay I'm
losing weight). She won't be eating pizza either unless they are cheese-less because she can't eat dairy products. ( ! )...

to instant noodles, McDonalds and various Chinese and Italian restaurants. I actually wound up losing 50 pounds my first semester there and got down to a
pretty gaunt looking 120 lbs....

I have a few friends here who work for Interac. They don't make quite as much money or get treated quite as well as JETs do (that's not to say that
they're treated badly!) but they get more time off during the week that JETs do, so she'll have a lot of time to travel around if she's got the
money to do so! She'll probably pick up basic stuff fairly quickly, but there is usually some nice person that will help you if you're having trouble.
I know a decent amount...

it. She's waiting to hear where she's going. She will be teaching at night she said - so maybe not only kids. She's a little worried about her
ability to speak Japanese, read signs and get on the right train, do laundry, her inability to eat seafood (at least she's not allergic to rice !) ... but

different from JETs, which is what I am. Do they know where in Japan they will be heading? That can factor into what type of teaching they do as well.
