I had a whole paragraph in response to this and I hit something and it deleted everything!

While it's true that all females from time to time can become jealous when someone they care about shows kindness to the opposite sex even though that person is not rightfully their own, sometimes females tend to obsess over comparing themselves to other women. Especially if they'd been with someone before, they never know if they're good enough. I'm sure when Kyoko became a bit jealous of Kozue she felt Godai would go for a younger, spunkier girl than someone a bit older and a little more mature/experienced. All the times she came right out with the accusations and irate tone she could have taken a more humble approach and could've just been honest. Then again it probably would have been hard for her to put him 'on the spot.' I don't think she truly had deep feelings for Mitaka because to me, it never seemed like she was ever immensely hurt by anything he did. Sometimes part of her manipulation was to front Mitaka to make Godai realize if he doesn't get his act together, she'll go w/ a guy who does have his act together. Although she was pretty upset when he 'stood her up' on their date due to a dog messing up his suit, she probably felt she wasn't good enough for someone older, either.

And Soichiro was really the only male role model for a mate Kyoko had ever really been around, so her lack of dating around before marriage put her at a handicap of not really knowing what she really wanted in a man, other than assuming/hoping men out there were like her dear departed. And the whole "get mad first ask questions later" attitude is just her being unreasonable and letting her emotions jump the gun....(like her parent's attitudes) It could be just part of her nature, like in the episode where she's in a cafe with an old high school friend and the friend advises her, "Oh, Kyoko, you were always the last to figure things out" or something to that effect.

A feeling like this is very hard to convey in words. I know many women that tend to act that way and put blame on someone they like/have feelings for simply to get a reaction. Throwing a can at Godai's head was pretty harsh, but sadly the whole reason she went on that date with Mitaka was because she thought Kozue and Godai were getting really involved. I also think it's easy for her to be more manipulative of Godai because she is the experienced one and she knows well she can play on his inexperience. Kyoko really needs to be honest about her feelings, but since she really lives only around a bunch of losers, it's hard for her to rely on anyone to pour her feelings and thoughts out to.

As far as RT being harder on either character, it seems about the same to me. The two have different situations and to each character life is not peachy when the story starts out, and when it was nearing the end for that matter too. I think she likes the pair equally the same because as the series progresses, it's almost like she's rooting them both on to eventually overcome their trials and struggles; with Kyoko it's finally letting go of her past married life and to Godai it's firmly laying down the future ahead for the two.

Gosh I hope I can try a little better to keep these short, I would hate to start having a table of contents!! ^_~

You remind me of a scene where Kyoko gets the wrong idea that Godai took Akemi to a Love hotel and she storms out of Cha Cha maru and Akemi puts her foot in the doorway and tells her something like, "You don't even let him hold your hand and you act this way" I LOVED how for once Akemi was mature and put her in her place!

When I said "yeah she's pretty equal" I meant RT is equal w/ her characters in ALL her series....

I'm so sorry I wasn't too clear about that, as far as MI only, yes in many aspects of the series she is in some ways a bit harder on Godai because of all the struggles he has daily even hourly with money, getting a job, and his neighbors bothering him from studying.

I agree entirely with Yusaku Godai (the board user not the character) ^_^ Being widowed is very painful. My own mom sadly is newly widowed and she vowed to never be with anyone ever again. And for Kyoko to have her first true love taken away from her at such a young age really puts her at a handicap for dating other men since she was married out of high school and had no experience dating around. Everytime she goes to Mr. Soichiro's grave, she endures enough pain and sorrow by her expressions and how she gets flashbacks of better days with him in the series. She also does not have any one person that truly loves her in the series (other than Godai of course) she has pressure from her parents, the tenants, the women Godai works with, so she probably has no one to pour her feelings out to and share things with.
