Does anyone remember Ryoko's Summer Xmas where Chibi dressed up as a girl to go to the party w/ Megane and when they were in the car Chibi asked Megane if
he was pretty and he said "Kirei da yo...Chibi..." omg and he was about to KISS Chibi!! What the hell was that about? It was hilarious and random but
wow....only UY....

Welp, UY's never exactly shied away from the ol' homoeroticism. Not only among the Stormtroopers, but the number of times Ataru and Mendo have been
lined up as more than just friends is enough to justify a drinking game. Not to mention Ryunosuke and Shinobu...
But of course, gender bending has always been one of the biggest rabbits in UY's comedy conjuring hat. |

I believe that was the Protozoa episode. They went back in time to where Adam and Eve were. Lum and co. accidentally brought back Adam and Eve to the future
when trying to get Ataru and Mendo back, which caused a time paradox. So, in an attempt to fix itself, the universe tried to have Ataru and Mendo be the new
Adam and Eve... and in order for that to work, one of them would have to be female.

There were two episodes that had Mendo transforming into a girl and Ataru chasing him/her. The protozoa episode that you've already mentioned... and the
Bluebird of Happiness episode, when the bluebird gave Ataru the ability to transform anyone he touches into a woman.

Technically that would be yuri, not yaoi.
At any rate, I never noticed any homo-erotic undertones between Benten and Oyuki. There was one episode that seemed to have homo-erotic undertones between Benten and Ryunosuke, though. It was the one where they were working together to try and help this one little girl. While these undertones do seem to exist throughout the series, I don't believe any character really swings that way. But I have to admit that the Megane/Chibi moment that this topic started on definitely raises a few red flags.

Yeah, I personally think it's just them joking around. Most of the characters in this series haven't really gotten past a mental age of about 8.
