I still have a lot of issues from the 2000s to go through, but I wanted to go ahead and post up what I had ready. We'll be adding the new material as it comes out each week. Enjoy, some of it's pretty interesting!

We've been working on a new section over the last few months, and we're ready to unveil it. Most people don't realize that in the table of contents
of each issue of Shonen Sunday, a fan will submit a question and all of the mangaka will answer it. We've been going through our old back issues and
translating what we have to put on the site. We go all the way back to 1983 (when this section started in SS), and if any of YOU guys have any Shonen
Sunday's that aren't listed there, we'd love to post the question up.

Oh my goodness, what an awesome peek into the mind of my favorite mangaka! Some of the things she's said are just so funny! Seems like she likes to sleep
alot - I would too if I worked as hard as she does while she's awake. One of teh funniest things I read when skimming through her quotes:
"What sort of person is the easiest for you to get along with?
If I don't associate with my favorite kind of people... various things happen." Maybe something got lost in translation. but what does 'various things' mean? It's also interesting to see that she has a fascination with the Mayan Empire. Hmm..I'm going to have to read the rest of that when I'm not so sleepy. Thank you so much for going through all that trouble - very much appreciated! |

I just read them all...thanks a tone for posting these! I always love reading her replies in interveiws or to fan questions. I have to agree with Ryougasgirl, the way she answers questions is REALLY funny and sometimes bizzare. I laughed pretty hard at some of those answers she gave. I think maybe being a mangaka for so long has driven her half insane... Thanks again for this! |

Yeah, she really seems to get a kick out of Mexico and the Mayans. I'd like to go to the Yucatan myself someday.
Yoiko suggested she might head back there after ending Inuyasha, perhaps this summer or fall, since she usually does after ending her series. Vaya con Dios, senora! She seems to be kind of a foodie too; although I've checked out some other Japanese entertainers' blogs (including Fumi Hirano's), and they often seem to have articles on food. Are cooking shows even more popular in Japan than stateside? My favorite lines (paraphrased): "I gained back all the weight I lost in five months after four days in America." (What would you say at a press conference?) "Leave me alone."

Wow, that was interesting! Also, where did the picture of Lum, Ranma-chan, and Kyoko come from? It's a newer picture, right? It's funny how different
Kyoko looks...but I rather like it...
So honey...

Captain Hummingbird wrote: Kauzo Koike, a famous writer of manga and Takahashi's former teacher at Gekiga Sonjuku, now works at the Osaka University of Arts doing manga courses. Anyway, they put out a glossy manga book (every quarter or semester, I believe), and because of Takahashi's connections with Koike, she often does covers or interviews for them. This was a cover to one a few years ago. The interior also collected a lot of drawings Takahashi did of Lum wearing a Hanshin Tigers uniform that were published in newspapers when they won the Japanese World Series.
