Ataru lacks the charm and the heart of other anime perverts such as Lupin the 3rd and Ryo Saeba. Even when you take into account some of the noble acts he has committed, they unfortunately are outweighed and overshadowed by his lecherous acts. By the end of the series, I have lost all respect for him.
I still think that the ending of movie 5 would have been better if a rock hit Ataru from offscreen after he said, "I'll say it on my deathbed." To me, that was a subtle, sugar-coated way of saying, "@#%$ you, Lum. I'm not giving you @#%$." At least, that's how I saw it.
