A 1/50 scale replica is under construction for the exhibition "It's a Rumic World". One of hosts of the event asked Shinohara Hisato to make it
because they are friends from their childhood.

How cool! I believe that somebody made an actual full-scale replica of Satsuki and Mei's house from My Neighbor Totoro as a tourist exhibit (in the actual
area the story took place, natch)...it would be really neat if they would do the same thing for Maison Ikkoku
Edit: According to Wiki, it was made for the 2005 World Expo in Japan. Here's a picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Expo_2005_of_Satsuki_and_Mei%E2%80%99s_House_01.jpg So honey...

We've added photos from the Maison Ikkoku section of the exhibition to the site, which includes the scale Ikkoku-kan model for those that want to check it
out, plus we've got photos of Kyoko's room and some of the final pages from the manga as well.

I love it: Soichiro's dog house is so kawaii, I'm glad they included it. I thought they'd just have the building itself, but the yard adds alot to
it as well.
SPOILER for the last chapter: Also, seeing Kyoko in her traditional wedding kimono always gets me. She's so beautiful in it! Thank you so much, webmasters - and especially Houshi - for these wonderful glimpses into the exhibit. |

Wow, those Ikkoku-kan replica are amazing. How do we think they compare to the live action scenery?
