So does Mousse deserve Shampoo? A few of my buddies argued for and against this subject.

Yes. I think they'd make an excellent couple.

I think it's Shampoo that doesn't deserve Mousse, not vice versa.

I agree with the previous two posters.

Re: Mm | ||

Now we're getting somewhere.
Please elaborate. I'll try to elaborate my position: Why would they make an excellent couple? Well... It basically comes down to me finding Mousse and virtually anybody a good couple, provided that they are happy together. (Well, it's slightly more nuanced than that, but that'll have to do.) M&S also requires the least work/justifying/rationalising even if, in theory (and other possibly series), there may be girls that, objectively speaking, Mousse would be happier with, provided he got over Shampoo. (The same, with some modifications, presumably holds true for Shampoo.) Why doesn't Shampoo deserve Mousse? I think it can be summed up with Shampoo sharing many (or most) of "early" Mousse's bad traits and, unlike him, never grows out of them (or, at least, is never given the chance to prove she has done so). I seem to recall Sol explaining this far better in one of the other Mousse-threads. "You didn't build in a safety? A
back door to switch the thing off?" "Young lady, you fail to grasp the basic principles of mad science." - Mel and Madblood, from Narbonic by Shaenon K. Garrity |

I agree with Vicious. If I want a girl Im worried about impressing her not vice versa. The whole chivalry aspect is there.

Actually, I think they make a good couple, but that's not what your question asked, Yeerk. You said:

I wasnt disagreeing with u, I was agreeing with Vicious. I may have been indirectly but I thought Vicious made a good point and I agrred and gave my view. Anyways going a little off the EXACT original topic is not uncommon in messageboards. IT hardly changed the subject at all and keeps the topic moving to new and interesting ideas and perspectives.

No problem. I just thought it'd be best if I made my viewpoint a little clearer. We've had week long arguments on these boards before because someone didn't clarify their stance in advance. *shudders at memories of David*

Im actually neutral on the subject. Im not sure either way so I need some opinions. Im a hell of a Mousse fan but I need some opinions.

Well arguing about the subject doesen't chance the facts.

Re: Mm | ||

You wouldn't mind telling us what those facts are?
(If you look at older debates you'll find that we're pretty big on facts here... and arguing about whether they can only be interpreted one way. But it helps if the facts are pointed out.) "You didn't build in a safety? A

Re: Mm | ||

I have to agree that it's Shampoo who doesn't deserve Mousse. (Actually, I don't think ANYONE desreves to be stuck with Shampoo!)
Despite his failings, Mousse has shown that he can be noble, (protecting Shampoo during the 2nd movie.) Shampoo never has done anything like that, even for Ranma. Even when she offers Ranma a possible cure, (instant Nanichaun), it comes with strings attached, (date me, marry me, etc.) It's a Teep thing...you wouldn't understand.

Re: Mm | ||

The 2nd movie doesnt really count. The anime as a whole doesnt count. All that really counts is the manga in the whole scheme of things.

Then, freeing her in the Phoenix Mountain story. It's as good an example, and in the manga.

Re: Then | ||

Arent there people who argue that Mousse didnt do it? From Ranmascans Ive seen it looks like he did it (Who else would have a mirror conveniently up there sleeves and it obviously wasnt Shampoo) but arent there people who argue that Shampoo or someone else did it??

Re: Then | ||

Yes, there are (Shampions), but for some curious reason they
don't appear to frequent this board... at least not for long. Or maybe they just bite their tongues and lurk. "You didn't build in a safety? A

Anyhow, Mousse's reaction - and Ryouga and Ranma's - defy the possibility of any other explanation. Ranma and Ryouga praise the brilliance of the idea - demonstrating that it wasn't them holding the mirror - and Mousse later states that 'I'll be kicking myself for years,' indicating that the action was one of his instigation.
As for Shampoo holding it herself - the panel shows another hand holding it to her face. It's obviously not her own. |
