As a Green Bay Packer fan, I want to be the first to congratulate the New York Giants and their fans for making it to the Super Bowl. They owned the line of
scrimmage and time of possession in the NFC Championship game and are the more deserving team to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
I also want to wish them good luck in bringing New England's perfect season to a close. And that I mean from the bottom of my heart!

First the Red Sox, now the Pats. Man, you guys over in Beantown are having a hell of a run. I'm not even gonna talk about how Buffalo did this year (or,
any other year either), but I am having a hard time deciding who I want to see lose more.

Looks like the Celtics could make a run at a Championship too. Now if only the Bruins could really get things together....
As for the Superbowl, I'll say this: For once its more than just a game. For the victor, the real prize is being a legend. If the Pats win, they'll be perfect and with even more credibility than the 72 Miami club. If New York wins, then they become the legend that stopped the record. I think it will be a fun game, but I think New England will win. New York's fairy tale will not end happily ever after.

Rob, I wouldn't quite say the Pats would have more credibility than the '72 Dolphins. The Spygate incident of Week 1 has cast a shadow on them. That
said, the winner of this game, regardless of whether it's the Patriots or the Giants, will be forever etched in NFL history because of what's on the
line. It is remarkable how well Boston sports have been of late, and I believe it will continue on Sunday. The last game was a close one, so it could be
interesting. Keep in mind, however, that Bill Belichick's had some time to figure out a game plan, so I don't think it will be as close as the last
one. It definitely will NOT be 23-17 Giants as Plaxico Burress predicted.
I will be rooting for the Patriots, in part because I used to live in the Boston area (I'm in New York now), but mostly because I went the same college as coach Belichick (Wesleyan University). May the best team win. |

Predictions. | ||

In good American fashion, I must root for the underdog. So GO GIANTS! No brainer here, since I HATE the Patriots. Actually, I don't so much hate the
Patriots but what they've become. It seems that since 9/11 the Patriots have become this force in football that just plain cannot be stopped. (Maybe
it's a national conspiracy to make us all more "patriotic"? Then, as a Libertarian, it's my civic duty to root against the Patriots. Ha!
However, realistically, I really can't see how the Giants can win, unless Brady's ankle gives out. I'm going on the record predicting the score to be 28 - 20 in favor of the Patriots. I think this will be a crying shame. But that's the way it goes. I just hope the game is well officiated. The teams aren't the only ones with allot riding on them. I think the officials have to be aware that they will be more closely scrutinized than any other refs in history. And I'll be rooting for an upset all the way. Weirder things have happened. Like the time the upstart Patriots beat the Rams.

The Giants did it. Who'da thunk it. Nice job.
Manning family dinner table discussions must be interesting now. "My Superbowl victory was tougher than YOUR Superbowl victory."

You know, I didn't watch the game. It just didn't matter to me that much in the end. I had anime to watch, and my Packers weren't in it.
So, I thought later, "Hmmm, I wonder what happened at the Superbowl. Either the Patriots got their perfect season, or the Giants thwarted a perfect season. Either way, BIG NEWS. But when tempted to see what happened, I had a feeling I'd see it on the board. And I did! (Just goes to show the public service this board can provide.) Good for the Giants! Kudos to them. I thought they'd beat Tampa Bay, but after that, I thought they didn't have a prayer against Dallas. And I thought my Packers would beat them. But they have to be one of the biggest underdogs in history to actually win. Kinda reminds me of the Jets vs the Colts in Superbowl III in terms of scale of victory. Their players and coaches and fans deserve a resounding congratulations!

Yeah, okay, so the Pats lost.....well, I can't really complain; it was a good game. Congrats to the Giants, they deserve it.

That was a great game, especially the catch at the end. I thought the Pats have won enough, so I was rooting for the Giants. Apparently that game was the
second-most-watched broadcast in American history, after the MASH series finale back in 1983.

I'm in Queens, and probably the best part of the game is how people react when it's over - all of a sudden, at 10:30 at night on a Sunday, people are
outside screaming their lungs out, huge fireworks (where did those come from?) exploded, and people drove around beeping their horns. It felt old-timey,
somehow.

That is cool. | ||

What you mention about fireworks and horns and stuff like that. I thought only we genuine True Green Bay Packer fans did stuff like that.
