Why hasn't Ranma ever simply pulled Kuno aside and physically demonstrated the curse in an effort to finally explain the relationship between Ranma and
the "pigtailed girl"? Even with Kuno's stupidity, I can't see how he'd be able to ignore a visible demostration. Most of the time,
it's just after Ranma's changed, preventing any chance to explain.
As a second question, what would happen if Kuno were to indeed "get it"? Would the overall dynamic change at all?

Ranma has actually physically demonstrated the curse to Kuno. Yes, he is that stupid, he still dosent understand something when it's right in front of him. If Kuno ever did get it (which he never would) I kind of doubt he would still chase after "the pigtailed girl" unless he fell into cursed spring of bisexual (not implying that that's a bad thing, I just had to add that joke in there...hope no one is offended) |

When was that? The time Nabiki "tried" to explain it or their fight into the pool? I don't quite remember ever seeing a true demonstration so I
might have simply overlooked it.
I agree that he is incredibly dumb, but I feel that part of the reason for his inability to understand is that he has almost always happened upon the circumstances after the shift, rather than the shift itself. The same can be said of Kodachi, as the one time she could have truly seen the results was obscured by the steam surrounding him and Ryoga. |

I think Ranma doesn't feel the need to explain it to Kuno. Kuno being so in love with the Pigtailed Girl is an issue he'd rather just went away.

Kuno isn't so much dumb as he is willfully ignorant.I agree with that. I definitely think that he chooses to believe what he does, and anything that doesn't fit with that gets blocked out and ignored. Maybe if Ranma gave him a direct demonstration he would accept it...or maybe he would come up with some twisted logic to otherwise explain the situation and hold on to that as stubbornly as he currently believes that Ranma and the Pig-tailed girl are two separate people. Kuno is pretty delusional anyways, so it's not that far of a stretch.

I can see that too. I think he'd accept the idea that Ranma and the "pigtailed girl" are the same person (Technically that is what Nabiki told him, but...) if he could clearly see the results of the curse with his own eyes several times in a row. But since this is KUNO we're talking about, he'd still find that "twisted logic" to somehow maintain the status quo. The theory that came to mind for me is that he'd conclude that the cursed form is the MALE Ranma, making the pigtailed girl Ranma's true identity. Thus, Kuno can simply ignore the curse as he always does, though he'll have to be careful about his timing if he doesn't want to be viewed as a pervert (which though he already is to some degree). |

I think that it was in the first or second volume (it was somewhere near the beginning) Ranma poors hot water on his head, turns back into a guy, and says something like "Do you get it now? The pigtailed girl's body belongs to me." Kuno just assumes that "The Pigtailed Girl" left, and Ranma came almost simultaneously, then misinterprets his explination to mean Ranma keeps the pigtailed girl as a sex slave (or something a long those lines) and imagines a rape scene between Ranma and...Ranma 
Keep in mind this all happend right before Kuno's eyes. So no Kuno doesn't just have bad timing, he really is stupid enough not to understand something put right in front of him,

I know which one you're talking about now, but I remember it being that Nabiki splashed Ranma with some hot water while Kuno held his "goddess"
in his arms. I think one panel even showed Nabiki with the kettle in hand saying "Is that too hot for you, Ranma?" I recall Kuno's interpretation
too, but I think it was again Nabiki who ultimately planted the image of Ranma keeping his female have as a sex slave. Still it did happen right in front of
him. Whether he saw it or not, however, is another story.
We're probably seeing the same thing, only from different angles, emphasizing different elements of the same situation. |

He was looking, but he selectively 'sees' what he wants to see. He didn't want to believe that they were one in the same, so he just made up his
mind that they had quickly changed places. Not really THAT unreasonable, since Kuno had already witnessed Ranma's speed during their bouts. But still,
yeah, Kuno's kinda dense about the whole thing.

its willfully ignorant like Psycho the movie. the guy relied on his mom so much that when his mom died it didn't register. kuno has two ideas and one
belief that denies the truth.
one idea is everything is absolute good is good and evil is evil. black is black white is white, and everything stays the same. if he sees a pretty girl she stays a pretty girl. even if ran-chan gained 60 pounds (god forbid) then he would willfully ignore that. like candid did if any one read Voltaire's works. the other idea is that there is no such thing as curses and magical creatures. sort of like how Mendo didn't believe in the sleep spirits that were in front of him. the belief is well I forgot. but still those two things hold him back

As much as Kuno is willfully ignorant, I don't agree that he's blatantly seen the transformation on multiple occassions and just refuses to acknowledge it. It's not like male Ranma was standing in front of him, and somebody squirted him with a squirt gun so he could see the transformation. One way or another, his eyes were shut, or averted, or it was impossible to see the transformation. There's doubt about what's happening, and it's in that doubt that Kuno holds his views. Does everyone know about Ranma's curse, or do they just think he's a weird pervert? Most everyone had to have it explained, or physically demonstrated, to figure it out. The Tendos had everything explained to them. Shampoo didn't figure out the curse out in her first story arc. She didn't get it until Cologne took her to Juusenkyo. Ukyo had it demonstrated. How long did it take his mom to figure it out? Akane still doesn't get that Ryoga was P-Chan. Kuno, stupid? Well, yeah, but pretty much everybody in the Ranmaverse is fairly stupid. |

I just remembered another time when Ranma transformed right in front of him. It was when he had that giant bird on his head. Ranma poored hot water on himself right infront of Kuno (while he was lookimg) and Kuno just plain forgot that male Ranma had ever been there, and ran over to imbrace the pigtailed girl. You may have a point about everyone in the Ranmaverse being stupid (one which I stronly agree with, lol) but I think Kuno is especially stupid (and not willfully ignorant). |

he tries to glomp them? He doesn't even realize they don't love him despite having received DOZENS of rather sharp reminders of that.
You suppose dealing with Kodachi and the Principal each day have rendered him immune to the feelings of others? I guess he's like Ataru in that sense. He just doesn't know WHEN to quit. |

LOL. I guess there is a bit of that, but I think it was that way before Ranma and PTG arrived at school. Many students thought Ranma was taking a pretty big
risk taking on the school's greatest warrior on his first day. It's only after Kuno's defeat at Ranma's feet (it was a kick that downed the
Blue Thunder) that he became a bit of a laughingstock and everyone realized he was mostly hot air.

In the first volume, in the story where we see Kuno destroy that statue, he was HUGGING the "pigtailed girl" when Nabiki poured the hot water on
Ranma. Depite having Ranma change while literally being in his arms, he still didn't get it. Though even Ranma knew that Nabiki's
"explanation" of the curse was messed up.
On a side note, Kodachi was on top of Ranma, clad only in his boxers, and about to kiss him, when Akane poured some cold water on him. Despite the fact that Kodachi was looking right at Ranma when the change happened, she didn't get it either. I think it was the arc where Ranma was trying to get those negatives back. |
