Not that you have to, but I think it would be more benificial to write about stuff that's been published in english (so non-Japanese speakers can read).
So how about we each post a list of recomendations with maybe a few sentannces describing or reveiwing each work. I'll start:
1. Out by Natsuo Kirino:
Very desturbing and phsychological, explores Japan beyonde the facade it's people put on in public.
2. Grotesque by Natsuo Kirino
Very harsh and realistic, explores the status of women in Japan
3. Japanese Tails of Mystery and Suspence by Edogawa Rampo
I enjoyed the bizzare and erotic ones more than the mystery ones, but all the stories in this collection were pretty clever.
4. Ring by Koji Suzuki
I've only read the first book in this sereis, but it was very well written. I think I liked it more than the J-horror addaptions
5. Battle Royale (forgot the others name, too lazy to look it up)
More pure entertainment than anything else...not much depth, but still very enjoyable.
6. Ju-On by Kei Ohishi
addapted from the movie...it's very creepy but a lot more graphic than the movies ever were.
Things that I hope to have time to read in the near future:
pretty much everything by Ryu Murakami, and/or Haruki Murakami, I've heard they their both good, if anyones read anything by them I would love to hear a short reveiw or recomendation or something.
