so do u think when the manga is done there make new episodes

I'd have to say rather unlikely. Even if they started off from where the anime left off, they'd have to make Lots of episodes to get to the end. Even
if they cut off some of the side stories, there would still be a couple seasons worth of episodes and I don't think Sunrise would be interesting in
producing it again. Even though the anime ended abruptly, I never got the feeling that it would be picked up. Some people ask "Hey they could just make a
few movies" - yeah, I don't think they could possibly finish it up satisfactorily in a few movies. We've discussed it before on this messageboard
and came to the same conclusion.
I love IY, and would be the first in line to see a movie or a new series, just don't think it's gunna happen. |

RT stopping the manga and wait for the anime? That's just plain crazy talk. The series would take another half decade to run its weekly premieres. Imagine
how the fans who have been following the manga would react. It would be a total chaos!

As far as the series ever returning, I would agree with Tierum and say that it is unlikely. The producer, Michihiko Suwa, still mentions the series every once in awhile in his blog and has remained close with many of the cast and crew. But I think the series (as an anime) has reached its peak and it would be very unlikely that it was able to return to a weekly TV show that would basically be starting up 3/4ths through the series. |

Well, I'm sure they wouldn't run it like that. They would probably do a ton of reruns leading up to the new ones, advertising that there will be new
ones soon. Big banner: "He's Baaack!", that sort of thing. It could work.

Are there any reruns currently in Japan? Or when was the last one there?

It's pretty rare for a series to get a repeat showing in Japan, however Fullmetal Alchemist is currently being reaired on Animax, a satellite channel here
in Japan. That's the extent of my knowledge about repeating series though. haha

It helps if the program is considered a quintessential show of a decade.
UY, MI & R1/2 also benefitted from Takahashi's long-term relationship with Kitty. Sunrise did pick up IY (and I think they did the Rumic TV series too, right?), but the studio definetly doesn't have the long-term investment that Kitty did, and would be considerably less interested in resuming this project since they have others to work on. I think. I'd love to see the series picked back up with a few ova's and a "Kanketsuhen" movie, but most likely it just ain't gonna happen. |

Got me to thinkin' | ||

Thinking about Sunrise animating IY, I wonder if Kitty ever did any work towards animating it as well, or if they were already going under at this point. It
would be interesting if there were some character designs or a short pilot in existance somewhere. Just a random thought.

I'm not sure who animated it but it has different character design than the sunrise version. I would link to it on youtube but I can't find it anymore. |
