Yeah, the spider-ball thingie is an extension of his body; as if he grew a turtle shell. His original body is the naked body. So I guess he is kinda inside
himself.

This chap has such an intense cliffhanger! Nar has gotten really powerful if he was able to let Mir and San see only illusions of their misguided feelings .
Please, oh, please, Kag let your arrow shot hit its mark! Except for Bya and Nar Till the next chap, later! |

AAAAHHHH!!!!! Sango the Hiraikotsu at Rin!! I so totally didn't want to be right. I didn't want Sango to be weak and give in to Naraku's taunts,
but the tama reacted to her weakness and darkened. What a cliffie! If Rin dies now - well, that's it. It looks like Sango and Miroku are in trance-like
states. They seem to be lost in thoughts of each other. Sango didn't hear her brother and, more noticibly, Miroku didn't react to Inuyasha jumping on
him or launching his Kongosoha. He still yelled at Naraku and seemed focused only on him. I think Kagome should have expected that her arrow wouldn't do
anything to the illussion, but I knew she had to try anyways. I'm glad she saw the real Naraku and Shikon no Tama. Hopefully, the arrow she fired will
help. I just pray it doen't hit the tama so it shatters again.
I'm still holding out hope that Sesshoumaru will arrive and deflect Hiraikotsu before it hits Rin. The little girl has no chance of surviving a direct hit. I had also really hoped Byakuya would have a change of heart and help out the Inu-gang, though he still seems quite loyal to Naraku. ACK! I'm going to be at the edge of my seat all week. :P |

CHAP. 542 | ||

MANGA CHAP. 542 - LIGHT SWALLOWED UP OUR STORY: As chapter opens, we see Inu (in full color)racing toward Miroku, carrying Kagome on his back. They both are thinking that Miroku mustn't open his Kazaana. They crest a rise and see Miroku facing off against what appears to be Naraku and the Shikon Jewel. As they draw closer, they see Miroku raise his right arm and start to unwrap the holy beads that hold Kazaana's seal in place. Kagome screams Miroku's name but he doesn't notice. Miroku is focused totally on Naraku and jewel in front of him. He thinks that even if the Kazaana rips out of control, he'll die happy if he can take Naraku and the jewel with him into oblivion. Kagome screams a warning for Miroku to stop, that this Naraku is an illusion. Seeing no response from Miroku, Inu draws Tessaiga and fires a diamond spear barrage at the figure of Naraku. The deadly spears pass through the Naraku figure harmlessly, but Miroku doesn't appear to notice them. Miroku hears Naraku taunting him, saying he must value his life more than he values Naraku's destruction. Miroku grunts and resumes unwrapping the beads. Inu and Kagome have come up behind the Naraku image and they can see through it to Miroku. They pass right through the image but when Miroku still doesn't react they realize Miroku has been rendered blind to anything except Naraku's image before him. Inu curses as he realizes Naraku's intent that Miroku should unknowingly destroy them along with the illusion. Miroku, seeing only Naraku, says this will be the villain's end. He thinks briefly of Sango and regrets he won't be spending his life with her. He pulls off the beads and is about to pop open his hand to open up the wind tunnel when Inuhasha screams his name and claps a hand over Miroku's, preventing him from opening the Kazaana. Miroku still doesn't register Inu's presence and he tries to free his hand. But Inu keeps a tight grip and body-slams Miroku to the ground, stunning him for a moment. Inu tells Kagome to get the holy beads and they wrap them around Miroku's hand to seal the Kazaana tight once more. Inu says this was too close, that if they'd been an instant slower... Miroku, however, has eyes and ears only for the Naraku image. He hears Naraku taunt him again, saying he's too bound by worldly attachments to go through with his mission. Miroku struggles to free himself, yelling that he's taking Naraku with him right now. Inu yells at Miroku to get hold of himself and is frustrated that Miroku doesn't seem to understand that he's there. Kagome realizes this illusion must be dispelled, NOW. She fires a miko-power arrow at the Naraku figure but the arrow passes through without any effect. Now she hears Naraku's laughter as the figure tells her that he won't disappear until Miroku is killed and until Sango does "a certain something" to save the monk. Kagome fears for Sango. Scene changes to a view of Kohaku walking up a hill, leading the 2-headed dragon Ah-Un. Kohaku sees light up ahead and he goes toward it. It's shining through a small window, barred with strips of Naraku sinew. Kohaku looks through the window and sees Sango, mounted on Kilala, confronting Naraku. He sees that Sango has unlimbered her Hiraikotsu for use. Then he notices that Naraku is holding Rin and he yells to his sister. But she doesn't seem to hear him. Indeed, she hasn't noticed her brother. Sango is thinking only one thought -- if she can defeat Naraku, then her monk's life will be saved. Her face shows her single-minded concentration on what she must do. Kohaku is sure she's about to throw her weapon and yells several times in a desperate attempt to attract Sango's attention. But the only one to notice Kohaku is Byakuya, who greets him with a casual "Yo, Kohaku." He says Sango can't hear his voice so Kohaku should just be quiet and watch. Kohaku demands to know what Byakuya means. Byakuya replies that human hearts are weak, especially Sango's, and that her head is filled only with thoughts of saving her dying monk. Indeed, Sango's thoughts seem to grow darker and darker. She thinks that if she lets Naraku go, Miroku still will die by the Kazaana as he opens it to destroy an illusion. So even if it means sacrificing Rin, she must act. She sets her Hiraikotsu in throwing position as her eyes gauge the range to her target. Meanwhile, the real, naked Naraku has been watching the drama from a distance, and is pleased to see that Sango's fears and weakness are feeding the darkness within the Shikon Jewel. Kagome senses that the darkness in the jewel is repelling her purifying light. The Naraku illusion confirms this for Kagome, telling her it looks like Sango has fallen and the light in the jewel is being swallowed up by the darkness. Kagome knows she must stop this before the light dies out and Naraku regains full power. But how? Should she shoot? At what? Kagome tunes her senses carefully, seeking out where the real Naraku and jewel are hiding. Ah, is that glimmer what she's seeking? She concentrates on that spot as Inu, still holding down Miroku, wonders what she's doing. YES! That's it! She sees naked Naraku and the jewel. She nocks an arrow, draws her bow and takes careful aim at her target. Kagome fires, willing with all her heart that the arrow hits him. At that same precise moment Kohaku yells his dismay as Sango, praying that Rin will forgive her, throws her Hiraikotsu with all her strength... THE END (^_*) |

Aaaaaagh! Cliff-hanger extraordinaire! Both Miroku and Sango are captivated by illusions so realistic that they are blind to anything else. It does appear that Sango decided to sacrifice Rin's life to save that of Miroku. But I'm hoping RT is deceiving us and Sango actually thought of a way to get at "Naraku" without killing Rin. Or maybe when Kagome shoots her arrow, she's not shooting at Naraku at all but rather has discovered Byakuya and is shooting at him, breaking his concentration and dispelling the illusions. But if that's not the case, then Sango is simply being human, not evil. Since inaction isn't an option and she can't save them both, Sango makes the rational decision to sacrifice someone else's loved one (Rin) in order to save her own man. Sango would hate herself for a while, which Naraku and the jewel would feed on and relish, but she would get over it if Miroku survived. But if she were to learn that she'd killed Rin for nothing, that Miroku died anyway, her heart and soul would fall into the blackest pit of despair, and the dark jewel would have a great feast until Sango killed herself. But I don't see Rin dying. We'll see Sango pull some trick that spares Rin. Or maybe Kohaku pulls Rin out of the way with his sickle-chain thing. Or Sesshomaru arrives in the nick of time to save Rin. Or Kagome's arrow succeeds in dispelling the illusions by striking at their source, Byakuya. Or all of the above plus something else. So now comes the week of waiting to find out what happens. (^_*)

....can't Sango just aim a little above Rin? I mean, it's not like she has to go through Rin to get a part of naraku...Of course she could, then Naraku would just move Rin to the path of Hiraikotsu and she's dead. Sango would feel guilty even though she didn't aim directly for Rin and Nar wins.... If Naraku is killed and everyone is inside Naraku hovering over the ground, wouldn't everyone fall to Earth? Just a random thought I had. |

I like it, all things are coming to pass...and don't forget that Sango is on her flying mount who could save them all if they fall....

Now, there's an interesting thought! I had forgotten about the flying mounts. Would Kirara voluntarily jump in to save Rin? Or, perhaps, Aun, whom Rin has taken such good care of? It seems too obvious that Sesshomaru would show up to save Rin in time. As it is, Kohaku was drawn first to the scene, (which, I suspect, Naraku did on purpose) when logic would lead us to believe Sesshomaru would have gotten to the scene first. So, R.T. seems to be in the mood to be completely unexpected. Every time I read a chapter, anymore, I get this horrible fear that the ending will come as an abrupt surprise, as well. This chapter's ending is certainly no exception. I'm wondering if Kohaku will attack Byakuya. I'm also still curious about that arrow that Naraku gave Kagome, and what roll it will play. Heck, I bring it up every week!

Ah Sayuni |
Great Chapter! | ||
|
I really enjoyed that last one.
As for the fate of Rin I believe Sesshoumaru coming is the most likely option since he was after her anyway and I don't think his sense of smell went wrong, though who knows?... Maybe Naraku found a way to intensify her smell from a piece of clothing and is leading Sessoumaru into yet another trap?... I also think that Kagome is aiming at Naraku and not Byakuya since it seemed like she saw him and the Jewel, and how can she see Byakuya anyway?... Did Byakuya make such strong illusions before? I guess the Jewel helps even if it's Byakuya's work (thought I have a tendency to think that it's just Naraku doing it and Byakuya mainly watching... Either way it's really intense stuff and I don't remember reading such a chapter in quite some time... Made me come back here |

I'm wondering if Kohaku will attack Byakuya.That's right! Kohaku is right next to Byakuya with his sickle and Byakuya is watching Sango's attack on Rin. Some quick thinking by Kohaku may save Rin by getting rid of the Naraku incarnation. It would certainly justify Kohaku's presence. I also think it would be nice if Kikyo's sacrifice to Keep Kohaku alive would aid in Naraku's defeat. Maybe Naraku found a way to intensify her smell from a piece of clothing and is leading Sessoumaru into yet another trap?...Perhaps, Naraku may have learned his lesson a few chappies ago when he made a Rin illussion which didn't fool Sessy in the least. Though when Kags got her powers back, he caught Rin's scent before Naraku realized what had happened. I guess it's possible since Naraku could have seen Sessy coming and decided to redirect him before he got too close... (thought I have a tendency to think that it's just Naraku doing it and Byakuya mainly watching...No, It's Byakuya; he said he's annoyed that he had to make illussions again. I'm pretty sure he's responsible. |

Ah Sayuni |
end is near?.. | ||
|
About Byakuya, you're right.. It seems he formed the illusions but I don't think we can say that hitting Naraku\The Shikon no Tama with a purifying
arrow will be totally ineffective. Perhaps the light that will return to the jewel will be so strong that it will lift the screen off Miroku and Sango...

This chapter is just too tense, I really don't know what to expect at this point. A near end does seem logical with Miroku's kazaana about to tear.
I'm sure Kagome's arrow will have some effect in some way, 'cause it'd be pretty stupid to have to wait for it to land somewhere aimlessly. Where's Sesshomaru?! I hope to see him next chapter. It's the only way Rin will be save. It's either him or Kohaku. Maybe Kohaku can hold off the situation a bit until Sessh arrives. |

i've brought this up before, I think, awhile ago, but since Byakuya is an incarnation of Naraku, his death may have some effect on him, though I don't think he's holding Byakuya's heart, like he was Kagura's, so he may be able to live just fine without Nar. I was also thinking, they may have to fight against the darkness of the Shikon no Tama still. Naraku said it wanted the darkness in their hearts. Even though Magat. is gone, the tama is still sucking up negativity and it may be difficult for Kags to purify....just throwing out ideas here.... |

What intensity. I do wonder exactly where Kagome is aiming though.

Well it's unlikely that Inuyasha will gain a new technique at this point, so it would be a good time for Kagome's fully unlocked powers to come into
play and combine forces with the rest.

Yeah, we got another glimpse of the nakey Naraku when she was focusing her gaze to search for the real Shikon no Tama. She couldn't be aiming for the tama
because she knows what happened last time she shot it. She must be aiming for Naraku. You think he can dodge it? he seems to be attached to the wall by those
vein-tendon thingies....
