Awesome chapter..the board is set and the pieces are moving (to quote Grandalf from Lord of the Rings). Right now I really can't tell who will make it out
alive or who will die (and who Sesshomaru brings back from the dead).

As I was falling asleep last night, I had a thought that perhaps in the next few chapters Sango will die from Naraku's miasma and rather than seek revenge against her Sesshomaru will use Tenseiga to save her life.Ah, a little daydream |

Assuming that Sesshomaru will save Sango, what about Miroku? Would Miroku's Wind Tunnel be renewed, or removed, if Sesshomaru manages to revive him? Sesshomaru may actually die in the effort, if he gets sucked in by the Wind Tunnel. Could a carefully placed Meido Zangetsuha cancel out the effects of a completely unleashed Wind Tunnel? I really can't imagine how eveything will happen for Miroku. No matter what, we are sure to be surprised.

Well, ATM Naraku isn't letting anyone near Miroku and Sango, but I would imagine that Sessy would get sucked in just like anyone else would. Miorku
isn't dead, but if he did die and was revived, I think it would stay with him. After all, it transfers from father to son ad nauseum, I don't think it
can be removed unless unless Naraku dies.

Wow, Kagome's speech about Naraku was... unexpected. I know it sounds lame but it gets me thinking about one of those movie cliche moments where the big
badass villian confesses that he lacks love or he's the one actually hurting blah blah.. then breaks down crying and redeems. I know it's hard to
imagine Naraku being a similar case, but do you think he'd at least feel remorse right before he dies, or will he die yelling "curse you!!" Ok,
the Meidou. It's not circular? It is to me, only that it's horizontal. I suppose it will saw Naraku in halves or something. The first Meidou strike had
no effect on him, could it be that it's because he had the fake Meidou with him? No idea.

The Meido thing at the end confused me a little as well, remember waaaaaaay back when Sesshomaru was first learning the Meido Zangetsuha and he was throwing
out little semi-cirucular attacks? Well Totosai said he wouldn't master it until it was a complete circle. It seems to be that Inuyasha has taken a major
step back!

I thought the new chapter was really interesting... what do you think Kagome meant by 'The shikon no tama didn't grant your true wish'? Does anyone
have any ideas on what Naraku's wish actually was? Hopefully next time they'll explain...

I too wonder what Naraku's true wish was.
Anyone else think that Tetsusaiga will be destroyed in the battle and InuYasha will have to materialize his own sword from his own strength ala Sesshoumaru?

Well, I always thought he just wanted to rule the world with it. I'm sure he mentioned something like that way back, (not sure it was in the anime or manga
though).
I don't think he'll lose Tetsusaiga. It has served him for sooooo long, it is already part of him. He went through a lot for the development of the sword, and that shows his development of strength too. |

Its actually almost sad about Naraku doing all this because nobody likes him. Haha.Yeah, Kinda Really pathetic, actually. "nobody likes me so I'll just kill everyone. It seems as though he's doing all of this because Kikyo chose Inuyasha instead of Onigumo and now he just wants everyone to be unhappy. :P Anyone else think that Tetsusaiga will be destroyed in the battle and InuYasha will have to materialize his own sword from his own strength ala Sesshoumaru?I have to agree with luvIY; I don't think Inuyasha needs another sword. He alreasy went through that whole thing where Totosai repaired it with Inuyasha's fang and then Inuyasha had to learn to use it by depending on his own strength and not his father's. Tetsusaiga is his. He was opening cresent Meido rather than opening a full one. Inuyasha looks like he just threw quite a few, so I'm sure it's something different. This is something unique to Inuyasha. The first Meido didn't hit - maybe like luvIY said: because Bakusaiga took some of the Meido, though I think it will serve a further purpose - , but the second hit because Inuyasha 'made it his own' like Totosai said he would. I really hope that Naraku's real wish is revealed. Like we always say: Takahashi never ceases to surprise. |

Whoa! I did not expect Kag to hit a nerve in Nar! But that's just my guess! |

I always thought that Kag's capacity to love would win the day. She saw right past Naraku's "I wanna kill everyone" motives to the real
reason for his current state. So I was thinking: Kags always found a way to show love to everyone, even Koga when he abducted her and Kikyo after she tried to
kill Kags. Could she show compassion to Naraku and thereby change his heart? --just a thought.

Not so much of a stretch. Well, I don't think Naraku is going to break down and start crying about never being hugged as a child, But maybe he'll....Oh
I don't know...maybe his heart will grow 3 sizes ala the grinch.

MANGA CHAP. 546 - NARAKU'S WISH OUR STORY: Chapter opens with Naraku gloating over his victory that left Miroku and Sango in each other's arms, awaiting the fast-arriving moment when Miroku's Kazaana goes out of control and swallows them up, fueling the Shikon Jewel's darkness. There's a brief distant view of the doomed couple. Inuyasha swears he won't let that doom happen, that he's going to beat Naraku and destroy the Kazaana's curse before it takes the couple. He swings Tessaiga to release a Meidou Hell gate to devour Naraku. But Naraku also acts at that same moment, absorbing the Shikon Jewel into himself. Now, he's one with the jewel and spins a huge spiderweb. Just as he completes his web, the Meidou strikes Naraku but passes right through him without effect and continues on behind him. Inu is astonished that Naraku wasn't swallowed up by the Meidou. Naraku says this is the power of the Shikon Jewel at work. He reminds Inu of how the jewel was burned with Kikyou's corpse and was supposed to have vanished from this world. But he says the jewel used Kikyou's lingering feelings for Inuyasha to transcend space and time, be reborn in Kagome and use her body to return to the Feudal Era. Even shattered, he says, it spread calamity while being reassembled. He says the jewel will never disappear even if he himself is destroyed. That statement sets Kagome to thinking and she asks Naraku if what he's been doing is what he really wanted to do. She says all the fighting Naraku has done against them only succeeded in tearing Inuyasha and Kikyou apart, set Kohaku and Sango against each other, and turned the love between Sango and Miroku against them. All he's done, she says, is ridicule bonds between comrades, curse people who are in love, and try to rip them apart. She asks why and was that his wish? Naraku asks her what she means. Kagome replies that since Naraku seems to understand the importance of bonds to the human heart, he also understands the pain of losing those bonds. Inuyasha wonders to himself where Kagome is going with this. Inu finds out as Kagome says to Naraku that the Shikon Jewel "didn't grant you your real wish, did it?" Naraku recoils at Kagome's words as she continues to hammer home her point. She says Naraku has hesitated until now to absorb the completed jewel into himself because he knew that absorbing the jewel would turn him into a true monster. Naraku snaps out of the funk from Kagome's words and snarls that she's a fool for thinking she could purify his heart with words like these. He glares at her, opens his arms and from his chest he shoots a volley of shouki spears at Kagome. Inu jumps in front of Kagome and fires off a Meidou that intercepts and absorbs Naraku's attack. Inu angrily lectures Naraku, telling him that they had different births but they both are hanyou, carrying within them both human and youkai hearts. He says they could choose to follow either their human or youkai hearts but Naraku tried to have it both ways, choosing to live as a youkai while retaining his human heart. The result was Naraku showed the worst of both sides, and only knew how to curse and hurt people. And that's why Inu cannot forgive him. He says there's no way he'd let such a bastard hurt his friends. Inu swings his black-bladed Tessaiga again to launch another Meidou, totally intent on annihilating Naraku. But this time something unexpected happens. Instead of one circular Meidou, Tessaiga produces a volley of Meidou crescents that converge on Naraku. Inu is wondering what he just did, as the first of his hellish crescents makes contact with Naraku's midsection... THE END (^_*) |

AWWWWW! Poor Naraku. (Yeah, riiiiight.) Oh, pity poor Naraku. He got to gloat over his defeat of Sango and Miroku until Kagome struck a nerve by calling him out on what he wanted from the jewel. It seems all he wished for was Kikyou's love and a purpose in life. Instead, the jewel granted him power without purpose, lust without love. And no Kikyou. Her heart belonged to Inuyasha, as does the heart of her reincarnation Kagome. (No wonder Naraku hates Inu.) Naraku was looking for love but the jewel only gave him power and the false promise that power would get Naraku what he really wanted. And Inu had Naraku pegged, too, when he said hanyou Naraku tried to beat the system by being both human and youkai at once, and ended up with the worst of both - youkai malice coupled with an understanding of what drives the human heart to despair. End result was misery for everyone but no happiness for Naraku. At this point, Inu and Kagome killing Naraku would be a compassionate act. Not to mention ridding the world of a total bastard. This chapter also indicated that the jewel is what's been holding open the pathway between present and past, and Kagome's and Inuyasha's close ties to the jewel are what's enabled them to travel through the well between the eras. It's as though the jewel were alive and intent on preserving its own existence no matter what. In that sense, the jewel may consider Kagome as its natural enemy because she doesn't just want to purify it but rather to obliterate it. I think this closes off any likelihood the well will stay open once Naraku and the jewel are gone. As indicated earlier in the manga, Kagome will be faced with choosing the era she will stay in. Once made, her choice will be irrevocable. And it will be tied in somehow with the jewel's transformation from an evil talisman to a lucky charm. Now, when Naraku absorbed the jewel, did it still have within it Kagome's spark of light? If yes, he'd be counting on the despair released by Sango and Miroku at death to provide the power to extinguish the spark permanently. But what if they don't die soon enough? Then Naraku will have swallowed the light that Kanna said would destroy him. And at the end, Tessaiga produced a Meidou attack unlike anything ever seen before. When Naraku absorbed the jewel into himself, he became impervious to the circular one-at-a-time Meidou attacks, but this volley of crescents appears to be an advancement of the Meidou attack that Naraku may be vulnerable to. Back when Sesshomaru first worked with this attack, he was only able to produce crescents one at a time, gradually advancing to the full circle that Inu received from Sessho.. But Inu always has favored the showy stuff, so this volley of crescents might be his way of making the Meidou his own. At the end, it appeared Naraku didn't know what to make of this development. It looks like RT has shunted Sango and Miroku to the sidelines, as just a motivator to Inu and Kagome for quick and drastic action against Narku. It was sad to see them in each other's arms, waiting together for death to claim them. Here we go, on the long wait until next week's chapter. (^_*) |

herbkir, something you said about turning the jewel into a lucky charm: I suddenly caught a vision of the jewel being completely sucked of its power and
Kagome's grandpa turning it into one of those cheap charms he sells at the temple ala the first anime episode. That might be an interesting end to the
jewel: becoming a useless trinket.

Something else you said, herbkir: if Kagome does indeed destroy the Shikon no Tama during the battle, she won't have much of a choice, she'll have to
stay in the sengoku jidai. If she does purify it however, She'll take over Kikyo's role in keeping it safe from becoming tainted once again.
I don't really see it being sucked of its power, jewels. I always got the impression that it would simply cease to be if it had no power. Though I have to admit, it would be kinda funny if it did end up being a trinket at the shrine. |

He was opening cresent Meido rather than opening a full one. Inuyasha looks like he just threw quite a few, so I'm sure it's something different.Ehhhhhhh, we'll see. I wish it was a bit more different though. I too wonder what Naraku's true wish was.Me too. From reading the comments on this chapter that seems to be what we're all wondering about. It reminded me of chapter 530 though. Right when the Shikon Jewel was made whole again, Byakuya asked Naraku what he was going to do with the Jewel now that he had it, and he said "Nothing." I don't know if Naraku was lying then or what. I do think that Kagome was bluffing a bit though. When she mentioned all of Naraku's accomplishments it was almost as if she was saying he hadn't succeeded in what he had been trying to do. But Kikyo is dead, Miroku and Sango are near death, Kohaku was practically driven insane with grief. He's definitely scored some points for himself. Perhaps she just felt like getting back at him for rubbing the fact that the Shikon Jewel will never be destroyed in their faces. if Kagome does indeed destroy the Shikon no Tama during the battle, she won't have much of a choice, she'll have to stay in the sengoku jidai. How come? The Jewel isn't what enables her to travel back and forth through the well. |
