Nope, not Princess Nine. That's a mostly serious show. This is a mostly silly show. And like the cosplay, softball only happens in one episode
A direct hint - one of the two cosplay pictures is of the main character. An indirect hint - this show has been mentioned previously as an incorrect guess on another show. Here's the person who is initially the main antagonist:

Okay, three gimme screenshots. Nothing ambiguous about these.
First, the two main characters dressed in their normal clothes. The male was the person cosplaying as Mahoro in the first set of screenshots I posted. The female also cosplayed, amusingly enough as a character her seiyuu voiced in a different show.
