Anton Chekov wrote all his plays and stories about a family that has lost everything or will lose everything. Stephen King always writes about either childhood friends who experience tragedy, or someone who experiences tragedy as a child. And sure, Rumiko will write the same story again and again, until she feels she's done it right. Good point, I never would have thought of those connections. I don't think it was an accident, she certainly thinks about that kind of situation. It's important to her.

I guess it must be. :) And just because it revisits the same sort of theme doesn't mean it's the same story -- each one has its own flavor, its own special quirks and facets.

Theirs is more adult, while Inuyasha and Kagome's is high school/first love sort of thing. Interesting... could you elaborate on this? I never thought about the Inuyasha/Kagome relationship being more juvenile than the Godai/Kyoko. As for a couple of other questions related to the thread... who do you think is more insecure regarding the feelings of the second party, Kagome (Concerning Inuyasha's feelings for Kikyo) or Godai (Concerning Kyoko's feelings for Soichiro)? Who do you think has done a more complete job of moving on beyond their old love, Inuyasha (Moving on from Kikyo to Kagome) or Kyoko (Moving on from Soichiro to Godai)? I would think it's Inuyasha since Kyoko's feelings might have been stronger to begin with, but... |
