Anton Chekov wrote all his plays and stories about a family that has lost everything or will lose everything. Stephen King always writes about either childhood friends who experience tragedy, or someone who experiences tragedy as a child. And sure, Rumiko will write the same story again and again, until she feels she's done it right. Good point, I never would have thought of those connections. I don't think it was an accident, she certainly thinks about that kind of situation. It's important to her.
