Okay, so HI! I'm new round here, but I've been following Takahashi for quite some time. I read this latest chapter and said to myself: hey, I gotta talk to someone else about this! What a great community you all have!

Okay, as for comments on this latest chapter: this is a major WTF chapter for me. It is wonderful that Miroku now has been relieved of his kazaana! I always knew Takahashi would have a happy ending for the taijiya and houshi!

Now, like herbkir, I agree that this is a real occurance. Kagome is really home and wearing a high school uniform and standing, presumably, in front of her new high school. However, I'm still not following the reason behind how she got into that uniform. It seems as though everyone else is still the same, Souta is still covering for her with her friends. They all still think she's in the Sengoku Jidai when the well dissappears. Do you think her memories have been erased and she herself will live her life as if she's never met Inuyasha or any of the others?? I really hope it doesn't go in that direction.

I also wonder how Inuyasha got the idea that he could make a portal with a meidou to Kagome's era. Yeah, he may believe that their "love connection" would be strong enough to bring him to her, but he must have also known that it could be suicide to jump into the hell gate. Of course, with how much he loves Kagome, I don't blame him for his willingness to risk it all.

On Chapter 552, something struck me as odd: the arrow pierced the shikon no tama and stuck in it, like a shikon-on-a-stick.

It may seem silly, but why didn't it shatter?.... Do you think the arrow effected it all all? Who has the tama now? Do you think Kaede can protect it like her sister did until Kagome returns...if she returns?

One other thought, if you don't mind...it seems like Naraku never really did get rid of Onigumo's heart since he admitted that his real wish was to have Kikyo's heart and his final wish seems to have revenge on the hanyou who did have Kikyo's heart by taking away Kagome whom he loves. By doing that, of course, he also fulfilled the tama's wish of ridding the Sengoku Jidai of the one person who could purify it.

Ok, first of all, I think that in this chapter, they could use more emotions. Like when Miroku's kazaana disappeared, he could have looked a bit more shocked in a happy way. And when Kagome got sucked into the Meido, Inuyasha looked not too worried, but just a bit clueless.

As for why Naraku wished Kagome back to her own era, and the well vanished, causing Inuyasha and Kagome to not be able to see each other, maybe he wanted them to suffer. Like the way he suffered from not being able to have Kikyo. But I doubt it is that simple.

However, there must be a reason why they didn't kill Kagome, for they could have, if Byakuya used a real blade when he cut her.

Thank you for my first welcome, luvIY!

Well, I can't say that there's a complete lack of emotion in this chapter. There was alot of shouting each other's names as Kagome disappeared and Inuyasha took his daring leap into his own meidou. Their reaction, or lack thereof, to the breaking of Miroku's curse was a bit disappointing. Though I tend to think they're all in a bit of shock. Miroku's loss of his kazaana must seem like a hollow victory in light of Kagome being sucked into the meidou. Inuyasha tends to leap before he looks and that's what happened here. Any rational person would avoid a meidou, but he just opened one and lept in, believing that, if he asked nicely, it would lead him to Kagome instead of death. He loves Kagome and she just disappeared into the 'hell gate' - well, people have done stupider things for love, I suppose. His emotions did seem a bit muted as he did so, however. He did let off one of his "KAGOMEEEE!!" cries and lept after her, but then he just seemed kind of stunned as he fell though the air. This was certainly an interesting chapter as everything happened at once: Naraku's dead, the curse of the kazaana is broken, Kagome is gone - dressed in a high school uniform, Inuyasha lept into a meidou of his own free will, and the wells have disappeared. Yeah, I'll be holding my breath until the next chapter.

Though Takahashi hasn't disappointed me yet.

The teaser for Chap. 554 is titled "High School Life" and indicates Kagome will find herself living a normal high school student's life, without the jewel or Inuyasha around. This indicates to me the jewel's plan is to immerse Kagome into the life of an "ordinary woman" schoolgirl so that she will forget all about the jewel and Inuyasha. And to ensure that happening, it could have fuzzed up her memories of Feudal Era events. (Maybe it also is trying to show Kagome that she's better off in modern-day Tokyo than mucking about in feudal Japan, to influence her into favoring the modern era.)

As to why she is in a high-school uniform instead of her middle-school sailor suit, I think the jewel jumped the time stream a bit to put Kagome where she would be had she never encountered the Bone-Eater's Well, to further the goal of convincing Kagome that the whole adventure with Inuyasha never happened.

Now, if the jewel also shared Naraku's malice toward Kagome, hell for Kagome would be putting her in a position where she must endure modern high school life knowing she has a love lost to the ages, friends she'll never see again, and obligations she must forego forever. But I don't think the jewel hates Kagome. It just wants to neutralize her as a threat to its existence.

Some fans think the jewel has put Kagome into an alternate dimension or has created an elaborate dream or illusion based on its modern-era knowledge and information in Kagome's mind. But I think the scenes where everyone discovers the well is gone were meant to indicate that what happens next with Kagome will be real events in her life, not dreams or illusions or alternate dimensions.

As to where the jewel went, I think plausible the speculation I've seen that the jewel has returned to its hiding place under Kagome's ribcage. The jewel's main drive is to survive. It had been existing quite happily in the modern era until Kagome got too close to the Bone-Eater's Well back in the beginning of this series. The modern era is the safest place it could be, and with the well gone there'd be no reason for Kagome to notice the jewel's presence.

With Kagome the only person having power to end the jewel's existence, what better hiding place is there than right inside her body, the least likely place for any one (or any thing) to look for it? (^_*)

It would certainly be interesting if the well didn't return and (assuming Inuyasha reaches Kagome) they both have to stay in the modern era. Though I doubt Takahashi would leave Miroku and the others wondering "whatever happened to Inuyasha and Kagome".

Personally I also assumed it might be an illusion. I don't think the bit with Sota and the girls was, but I thought perhaps the ending was, similar to the whole "Kagome on the Mountain" storyline from last year.

As to the Onigumo bit, didn't Naraku return to the remains of Mount Hakurei and find the remains of Onigumo that he discarded and reabsorb it? The white head that was in the pools underground, right?

I personally think it would be interesting if Souta, Jii-chan and Higurashi-sama all knew about the feudal era and Kagome's mind was fuzzy. I think I've seen a similar plot in some fanfics. If inuyasha got to her, maybe he could pull an "I love you, don't you remember me?" and kiss her to help her regain her memory. --- on second thought, maybe that would be too cliche.

It's plausible that the Jewel's and Naraku's "same wish" was to seperate Kagome and Inuyasha permanently, not because they feared just Kagome's power, but the combined powers of Kagome and Inuyasha together. Both Kikyo and Kagome have the power to purify the Jewel, but remember when Kikyo said that if Inuyasha became human, the jewel would cease to exist. The "right wish" has to be made on it. I don't think Kagome will be able to destroy the Jewel by herself. I think when Inuyasha resolves his internal conflict with being a half-demon, this will help resolve the fate of the Jewel.

Well, Kagome got to her era through a meidou, though it was Byakuya's meidou and as we've seen, everyone's meidou is different. Sessy's was a round portal, Inuyasha's was a cutting meidou and apparently Byakuya's was a portal to somewhere besides hell. Now whether Byakuya of teh Illussion made a meidou that was a portal to an illusiory dimension or a portal to Kag's era, I'm not entirely certain.- that's the best idea I can come up with.

Hmm, so Shippo seeing Byakuya's invisible blade a few chapters back didn't add anything to the story. A bit disappointing.

Well, his comments kind of explained to Inuyasha where the meidou came from. I wonder if he would have made a meidou and lept into it if Shippo hadn't said anything.....yeah he probably would have. Inuyasha is rather impetuous, so I guess in the end, Shippo's comments really didn't change much.

It was chapter 504 that had Inuyasha with Sesshomaru in the meidou. It was Tenseiga that helped Inuyasha find his way back into the world. In that meido, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru were disappearing into the meidou's darkness. There was no illusion, or hell, beyond that. So, clearly, something different is going on with Kagome. However, we don't know for sure if she is in the real modern era. We haven't seen her interact with her family, or anyone, yet.

I am going to hazard a guess, based on episode 504. I'm guessing that either Sesshomaru will go in after Inuyasha, or he'll toss Tenseiga into the meidou to guide Inuyasha to safety of some sort. Or, maybe Tetsusaiga, or Kagome herself, or even the suspiciously absent Midoriko will help Inuyasha find Kagome.

Something's been bugging me, though. Why didn't Inuyasha try to immediately reopen the meidou with black Tetsusaiga, when he saw that it was closing?

Thank Goodness! That's all I can say. It was just a vision of her high school life given to her by the Tama. That last part, though, seemed to be her looking on at what was actually occurring at the site of the bone eater's well's disappearance. Apparently school has started and Kagome hasn't been to classes, for obvious reasons. I thought that Kagome had just graduated then there would be a summer break of a few months and then she would go into high school. I guess time moved faster than I thought because it seems that Kagome has already missed a few days of classes. When she is shown what is happening at the moment at the site of the bone eater's well's disappearance, Jii-chan, Souta, and Higurashi-sama are still trying to figure out what happened while Ayumi, Eri and Yuka run in looking for her.

At any rate, the last panels were tense. Kagome is floating in darkness next to the skewered Shikon no Tama and it's telling her she has nowhere to go! I guess her only hope at this point is Inuyasha - or does she have the strength and insight to make the right wish? What will that mean for her if the tama vanishes? Will we see Midoriko before this is all over?

I also think it's interesting to note that she wasn't interested in Houjo-kun in the vision. They went out on a 'date' but she then said she didn't want to date him. So I think it would be safe to say that if she had never time-travelled, she wouldn't have gone out with him anyways. ---Anyone else expecting an emotional reunion between Inuyasha and Kagome? Come to think of it, where exactly is Kagome - or Inuyasha for that matter?

Looks like the "illusion crowd" called it correctly (thought so!) in that it was all being created to disturb/pacify Kagome. There's always a real sense of melancholy when Takahashi starts to end a series, and Inuyasha is no different it seems. It's very interesting to see how Kagome's life would have turned out.

I'm starting to get the feeling that Takahashi may not give the definitive ending I'm hoping for. She probably won't leave the final wish that destroys the Shikon Jewel "up to the readers", but I have a feeling she won't show which era Inuyasha and Kagome ultimately wind up in, or if Inuyasha winds up being a human or not... I hope she shows this, but she might want to leave it up to us to decide as she did with Ranma ½.

Of course she could take the Maison Ikkoku path and make it pretty clear... we'll see I guess! *_* I'm excited, and finally, starting to feel a little sad after following this for 11 years.

I know what you mean, Yoiko Hibiki. After reading Inuyasha for so long, it's exciting to see the conclusion, but it's sad to know my weekly Inuyasha fix is over.

I'm just wondering, how long do you think this final arc will take? I didn't think the final battle with Naraku would take so long, but she continued the 'spider ball' arc for months. I hope i have something to look forward to each week for a while longer.

Argh, makes me sad I'm not over there to buy it myself anymore...

It's very interesting to see how Kagome's life would have turned out.

Interesting? Try depressing! Her life seems incredibly dull and average. I think its very important that Takahashi showed what her life would have been like had it continued on without her having ever travelled to the past, because it allows us as readers to see how Kagome would be without Inuyasha's influence. It made me fairly depressed seeing her in that "world". It certainly seems that she has nothing to be passionate about, no boyfriend, no archery, even her relationship with her friends seems less close than her relationship with Sango, Miroku and Shippo, which I never considered before.

I'm just wondering, how long do you think this final arc will take?

I think the whole series might be over with in four chapters.

It certainly seems that she has nothing to be passionate about, no boyfriend, no archery, even her relationship with her friends seems less close than her relationship with Sango, Miroku and Shippo, which I never considered before.

So could this glimpse into her future life be foreshadowing her return to the sengoku jidai? I certainly wouldn't be opposed to that!

She didn't seem terribly happy when she was in her 'vision'. The converations seem so trite compared to the exciting life she led 500 years in the past. Although, she did seem desperate when she called out to her mom. I don't know, having to choose between her family and Inuyasha is a choice I hope she doesn't have to make.

Kagome probably seemed dispassionate because she felt confused, she thought she was going crazy. And Kagome's life in the vision was probably sadder than her life would have been, especially since she knew someone, or something was missing. In real life, I'm sure Kagome's friends are about as close to her as friends would normally be. The feudal era friends are closer than normal, because of all the trauma they have been through together, and have overcome. In comparison to her tulmultuous feudal era experiences, normal life may seem dull, but it's peaceful...mostly.

In those scenes where Kagome remembers InuYasha, and becomes aware of the Shikon no Tama, she looks similar to her scene where she gets her powers back from Megatsuhi. I wonder if that is because she is spiritually fighting the jewel already. I don't think that the jewel just suddenly decided to let her see what was really going on.

So, right now Kagome is in limbo, not in either world, but is trapped in a way that she sees what's happening. I wonder if the jewel will take her to see InuYasha's torment, as he searches for her.

Hmm, so Shippo seeing Byakuya's invisible blade a few chapters back didn't add anything to the story. A bit disappointing. Well, his comments kind of explained to Inuyasha where the meidou came from. I wonder if he would have made a meidou and lept into it if Shippo hadn't said anything.....yeah he probably would have. Inuyasha is rather impetuous, so I guess in the end, Shippo's comments really didn't change much.

It was Tenseiga that helped Inuyasha find his way back into the world. In that meido, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru were disappearing into the meidou's darkness. There was no illusion, or hell, beyond that. So, clearly, something different is going on with Kagome. However, we don't know for sure if she is in the real modern era. We haven't seen her interact with her family, or anyone, yet. I am going to hazard a guess, based on episode 504. I'm guessing that either Sesshomaru will go in after Inuyasha, or he'll toss Tenseiga into the meidou to guide Inuyasha to safety of some sort. Or, maybe Tetsusaiga, or Kagome herself, or even the suspiciously absent Midoriko will help Inuyasha find Kagome. Something's been bugging me, though. Why didn't Inuyasha try to immediately reopen the meidou with black Tetsusaiga, when he saw that it was closing?

It was just a vision of her high school life given to her by the Tama. That last part, though, seemed to be her looking on at what was actually occurring at the site of the bone eater's well's disappearance. Apparently school has started and Kagome hasn't been to classes, for obvious reasons. I thought that Kagome had just graduated then there would be a summer break of a few months and then she would go into high school. I guess time moved faster than I thought because it seems that Kagome has already missed a few days of classes. When she is shown what is happening at the moment at the site of the bone eater's well's disappearance, Jii-chan, Souta, and Higurashi-sama are still trying to figure out what happened while Ayumi, Eri and Yuka run in looking for her. At any rate, the last panels were tense. Kagome is floating in darkness next to the skewered Shikon no Tama and it's telling her she has nowhere to go! I guess her only hope at this point is Inuyasha - or does she have the strength and insight to make the right wish? What will that mean for her if the tama vanishes? Will we see Midoriko before this is all over? I also think it's interesting to note that she wasn't interested in Houjo-kun in the vision. They went out on a 'date' but she then said she didn't want to date him. So I think it would be safe to say that if she had never time-travelled, she wouldn't have gone out with him anyways. ---Anyone else expecting an emotional reunion between Inuyasha and Kagome? There's always a real sense of melancholy when Takahashi starts to end a series, and Inuyasha is no different it seems. It's very interesting to see how Kagome's life would have turned out. I'm starting to get the feeling that Takahashi may not give the definitive ending I'm hoping for. She probably won't leave the final wish that destroys the Shikon Jewel "up to the readers", but I have a feeling she won't show which era Inuyasha and Kagome ultimately wind up in, or if Inuyasha winds up being a human or not... I hope she shows this, but she might want to leave it up to us to decide as she did with Ranma ½. Of course she could take the Maison Ikkoku path and make it pretty clear... we'll see I guess! _ I'm excited, and finally, starting to feel a little sad after following this for 11 years. After reading Inuyasha for so long, it's exciting to see the conclusion, but it's sad to know my weekly Inuyasha fix is over. I'm just wondering, how long do you think this final arc will take? I didn't think the final battle with Naraku would take so long, but she continued the 'spider ball' arc for months. I hope i have something to look forward to each week for a while longer.

It's very interesting to see how Kagome's life would have turned out. Interesting? Try depressing! Her life seems incredibly dull and average. I think its very important that Takahashi showed what her life would have been like had it continued on without her having ever travelled to the past, because it allows us as readers to see how Kagome would be without Inuyasha's influence. It made me fairly depressed seeing her in that "world". It certainly seems that she has nothing to be passionate about, no boyfriend, no archery, even her relationship with her friends seems less close than her relationship with Sango, Miroku and Shippo, which I never considered before. So could this glimpse into her future life be foreshadowing her return to the sengoku jidai? I certainly wouldn't be opposed to that! She didn't seem terribly happy when she was in her 'vision'. The converations seem so trite compared to the exciting life she led 500 years in the past. Although, she did seem desperate when she called out to her mom. I don't know, having to choose between her family and Inuyasha is a choice I hope she doesn't have to make.

And Kagome's life in the vision was probably sadder than her life would have been, especially since she knew someone, or something was missing. In real life, I'm sure Kagome's friends are about as close to her as friends would normally be. The feudal era friends are closer than normal, because of all the trauma they have been through together, and have overcome. In comparison to her tulmultuous feudal era experiences, normal life may seem dull, but it's peaceful...mostly. In those scenes where Kagome remembers InuYasha, and becomes aware of the Shikon no Tama, she looks similar to her scene where she gets her powers back from Megatsuhi. I wonder if that is because she is spiritually fighting the jewel already. I don't think that the jewel just suddenly decided to let her see what was really going on. So, right now Kagome is in limbo, not in either world, but is trapped in a way that she sees what's happening. I wonder if the jewel will take her to see InuYasha's torment, as he searches for her. ~dip
