I think I will forgo an attempt to organize my thoughts on this topic and instead put forth one liners that demonstrate my somewhat disjointed thoughts and feelings about race 2008.
The Democrats ran the worst candidates ever, except for the Republicans. Or is it the other way around? I don't know.
"Operation Chaos" aside, I actually was starting to think Clinton was looking the best of the three candidates left in the race.
There is no way that Obama, with the Dukakis coalition of blacks and white elitists, should ever win in the general election. Just give McCain time. He'll figure out a way.
Obama's worst nightmare has come. He will win the nomination, but he'll likely have to take Hilary on as Veep or he'll split the Democrat base and guarantee defeat.
McCain's recent criticism of George Bush, and his attempt to distance himself from Bush based on the Obama rhretoric of "George Bush's Third Term" has him looking like a real weasel, and a pansy. Doesn't he get how angry he's making the Republican conservative base? Does he care?
They said in 1992 George H.W. Bush ran the worst campaign in history of presidential campaigns. I think we have three candidates here who each ran a terrible campaign so far, campaigns that make Bush Sr.'s look good. And the funny thing is, I think Hilary, after her initial misteps and tears prior to Super Tuesday, recoverred nicely and ran the strongest from then on.
Campaign donors have to wonder why they are donating to such lousy candidates? I mean, what's in it for them? I think I just answered my question. I'm sure plenty is in it for them. Instead of the store, I'd watch for the entire house, the appartments and the entire block as well to be given away after this next election. (I censored myself and deleted a tirade against corruption in government. But we as voters really have to decide whether we'll let our politicians and the monied interets own our government. I mean, McCain-Feingold schmeingold. It's the Feingolden rule. Whoever has the fine gold makes the rules.
Who am I going to support? I really don't know. I can't support Obama. I looked at him; believe me I did. I would have supported him except he's a political amature and his statements show him as an elitist. Also he's not the agent of "change" he made out to be. He's more big government, more programs and higher taxes. That's Obama in a nutshell. What's more he's a babe in the woods on foreign policy. McCain? What a weenie! I can't believe I gave him money back in 2000. McCain's a lemon and I want my money back! If McCain takes a decent Veep, I may reluctantly support the ticket. But I really don't want to.
I'll likely either sit this one out, or support (throw away my vote on) the Libertarian ticket this year. Bob Barr a former Republican and an ACLU member in good standing, actually inserted a sunset provision to the first Patriot Act, and, if I'm not mistaken, voted against the Patriot Act when it came up for re-authorization. I won't declare my support, but I have to say I'm intrigued. At least my conscience could be sated if I voted for someone of principal. But I know it's a big waste of time. I am also thinking of voting against whoever is the incumbent, no matter what for. These bastards have ruled badly enough and ought to be gone.
There, I feel a little, but not much, better. Forgive me. I'm really bitter and have been holding back my venom on this. I guess I'm also interested in Alindawyl's take on the whole thing. And everyone else too! Join right in. We have different points of view here at Rumic World, but I can honestly say I respect all of them. We have smart people, and it would be good to get everyone's perspective. Maybe we don't agree on the liberal/conservative/libertarian/authoritarian thing, but maybe we'd all agree the system's corrupt, and (practically) all of the politicians are dirty SOBs and need to go? I don't know.
Like I said, it was therapy. I beg your indulgence. Not sure it's working.
