I think it would be funny if they thought they were still all alone in the meidou, and they kiss, right in front of everyone.

So, any guesses as to where they are now? I the air around them is full of light, so is it possible that the meido was closed in the process? It would be
kind-of like that one chapter, where Inuyasha cut his own youki to blast his way out of the meidou.

So, just as a curiosity: what happened to Midoriko and the youkai? Did they go to hell or did they simply cease to be? |

I'd go with "cease to be", I don't know if the beings within the Jewel could go to heaven or hell simply because of their age and importance
(lack of?) to the story.
We've got around 14 hours left until the final chapter hits news stands in Japan. haha I don't know if I'm ready for it! |

I know it will be impossible for me to sleep tonight! What will be most difficult will be getting through work tommorow knowing that I will be reading the
last chapter when I get home. I'm not going to be able to contentrate. AAACCCKKK. It can't be over yet. I'm just not ready. I think I was an even
bigger mess when I read the end of Ranma, I cried for a good long while. Now I'm older and wiser and.....aw, who am I kidding; I'll be crying tommorow
night when this is all over.

I'm nervous but excited. InuYasha was one of the very first mangas I ever read. I hope the ending is everything the series has been (well, everything
except infuriating).
But I may need that support group tomorrow night |

Chapter 558 - The End | ||
|
I just finished reading the last chapter, and overall I'm really pleased with it. It had just the right mixture of happiness and sadness. I know some of
the girls here might not be too happy with the lack of kisses (sorry!) but I think the trade off was a lot more, even if it was more of a situation of
"saying" rather than "showing".
Koga fans will be really unhappy though, and I think that might have been an oversight on Takahashi's part. She could have shown him rebuilding the Wolf Demon Tribe with Ginta, Hakkaku and Kai and Shinta. I thought the playfulness with Kohaku's appearance and Sesshomaru's was really great, and of course its a somewhat open ending, but we know that Kagome will no longer live in the modern world or go on to college. Inuyasha didn't become a human, which I'm really happy about. Miroku and Sango managed to survive everything and finally find happiness together, although I'd really like to know the names of their kids, perhaps that will be revealed at a later date. I was surprised that the only character who looked to have aged was Sota, of all people! Shippo still looked exactly as he always had, and I felt a mixture of pride and sadness in knowing that he no longer stayed in the village much anymore. The same with Rin, that Sesshomaru had given her up in order for her to be reacclimated into human society. At the end of it all, I'm really happy with the ending. Takahashi was able to bring things full circle and put the characters on their future paths in a realistic way. Their love for each other is apparent, and I think all the characters have happy lives in front of them. |

I liked the ending a lot, I thought she did a very good job and gave it closure, which seems to be the general criticism with her endings (at least with Ranma). I thought it wrapped a lot up, and went a lot farther than I would have though with skipping three years and having them get married of all things (even I wouldn't have had the balls to write that into the ending). Yeah, I didn't notice Koga's absence until you said something to me about it Yusaku, but that was a little sad when didn't see him. I mean, we did see Totosai... I did think we might see children with Sango and Miroku, so I was pleased that came to pass. Shippo and Rin's situations were a little bittersweet, but I'm glad Sesshomaru will still have some involvement with her. Kagome having to say goodbye to her family and friends though was quite sad. I'm glad Takahashi didn't cop out and make it so Kagome could continue to go back and forth (at least, I don't think she can, that goodbye seemed pretty permanent). I think that made her decision a lot more meaningful. It was nice to see what her friends would be doing after they graduated too. The whole three year advancement was a very good story device I thought. We also wrote a little article about the ending and our time following the series if anyone is interested. There may be one or two spoilers, so be careful if you try to avoid them. I'll miss it though.

I'm content with it. I like them getting married better than them kissing. LOL. Some of the art in this chapter is just... utterly to die for.

A great chapter. Not perfect, but definitely an appropriate end to the series.
Inuyasha and Kagome had to spend three years apart? That was really harsh, but they're together now and that's what matters. Still, even I was a little surprised not to see them kiss after being reunited. And then just a few pages later, they're already married?! Well, I'm satisfied with that, though. I'm happy that was made so definite and not left kinda ambiguous like the end of Ranma 1/2. Kagome calling Sesshoumaru "onii-san" and then his reaction had me in tears. I just couldn't stop laughing. Speaking of Sesshoumaru, my one regret right now is that his connection to Rin is still kind of mysterious, though personally I see it as kind of a father-daughter relationship more than anything. It's sweet that he returned her to human society, but still visits her once in a while. It's like he and Kaede share joint custody of her, and he's the weekend dad! Sango and Miroku's kids need names, I agree. Hopefully someone asks Takahashi about that at a convention or in an interview. I don't really care about Koga, but the more I think about it, the more I think a brief mention of him was warranted at the very least. I was hoping Shippo, at least, would age a little. Still, he seems to be maturing anyway...sort of. That's all for now. I was really happy to be able to read the ending of the series like this. But still, I hope to continue posting about Inuyasha here as the Viz manga volumes continue to be released. There's still a lot there I haven't read yet! |

I don't really care about Koga, but the more I think about it, the more I think a brief mention of him was warranted at the very least.Honestly yeah. She showed us what Toutousai was up to. It was probably my biggest letdown that Kouga didn't get an appearance. There's a page at the very end that talks about Rumiko's next series? It's after the huge cast picture- the page with Lum, Ranma and IY. Is there any specific information on there or does it just say to "wait for her next series." |

Oh, I was so emotional throughout the whole chapter! Until Kagome came back, I had this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomache that just said "No, she
can't leave her there without Inuyasha, she just can't!" You have no idea how torn up I was. That is probably why I didn't mind the absence of
a kiss. Alright, so there wasn't a deep passionate kiss at their reunion, but I thought it was so wonderful the way it was almost expected. It's so
heartbreaking to me to think that Inuyasha had been jumping into the well every three days for three years...hmm, Takahashi has a thing for threes, huh?
You know, I actually like that she stayed home and finished what she needed to do. Kagome had her own 'loose ends' she needed to tie up. Like I said in another post, I would think it horrible if Takahashi left the Higurashis hanging. -- Really funny line went something like this: "You got a hot sister, don't you? Introduce us to her." "She went off to get married after she graduated." "What is she a yankee?" Yeah, I noticed Kouga's absence too...poor wolf-boy. I miss him and I wonder what happened to him and his clan. I hope he found a nice wolf-girl. I would hope he'd at least tell Inuyasha to take care of Kags, though he already did, I guess, after Kikyo died. I think it would have been funny for Inuyasha to finally be able to rub his marriage to Kagome in Kouga's face. What a funny encounter that would have been! I'm glad Rin is staying with Kaede. She'll be brought up well with her and the Inu-gang. Sessy is certainly keeping her well-dressed The most kawaii shot in all of Inuyasha EVER: the twins pulling on Inuyasha's ears. Babies and Inuyasha - SQUEEEE. I had to think though that Inuyasha was only annoyed with their antics because the tugging on his ears may have reminded him of his first encounter with Kagome - yeah, I may be reading into it a bit. I loved the last shot too. Kagome is in miko's clothes and Inuaysha is okay with it, unlike the first time he saw her in them and asked her to take her clothes off... I thought it was also so cool when she called Sesshoumaru Onii-san - brother-in-law and his eye twitched in a mean glance - as did Inuyasha's. It was almost as if Inuyasha was indignant for his brother. She didn't go right out and say it, but Takahashi sure insinuated that the brothers have an amiable relationship. You can also assume that Sesshoumaru forgave Sango, given the fact that she's alive and Rin is living in the village with her. Well, I've already written alot and I'll probably have more to say later, so, check ya soon! ---One thing I'm wondering about: did Eri, Yuka and Ayumi ever find out where she'd been? It sure didn't look like it.

"And in the end
The love you take Is equal to the love you make." -The Beatles, "The End" Wow, I can't believe it's over. Forgive me, perhaps it was because I've only been reading the Rumic World summaries, but the last chapter felt a bit rushed. I was also confused as to why Kagome had to stay in the modern world three years before being able to return to the Sengoku era for good. But at least everything is settled with the gang; their travails are over. I'm especially happy for Sango since she suffered the most. Now have yourself a nice long summer break, Rumiko. You deserve it. PS: Did someone say there was a page giving some hints of her next series? |

I was also confused as to why Kagome had to stay in the modern world three years before being able to return to the Sengoku era for good.Well, she talked about her heart breaking for her family because she had made them worry. She wanted to grow up, end her life in the modern era on a positive note and, I guess, make sure her family knew she'd be okay. When her and her mom were standing at the well after her graduation, I think her mom was finally ready to let go and Kagome was able to let go herself. In short - her heart was split between the two eras. She knew she wanted to spend her life with Inuyasha - she just had to tie up her own loose ends in her own time before she could give herself completely to him. PS: Did someone say there was a page giving some hints of her next series? It just said "Look for Takahashi's next series." No real hints, I'm afraid. Now have yourself a nice long summer break, Rumiko. You deserve it.AMEN BROTHER!! |

Oh, you know what, Ranma 101, they didn't. I just noticed that. In the last shot she still has them on, dang it! I think that would have been a significant
development in their relationship, though I think at this point in his life after all they've been through, he just didn't mind them so much. I think
those beads may have actually reminded him of her while she was gone and he now treasures them as an eternal reminder of how they met fell in love as they
spend their lives together.

Wow. Inuyasha finally ended, and, I guess it was an fine ending. Kagome and Inuyasha ended up together, but Kagome's family stayed in her heart 4ever.
awwww.......
by the way, can anyone tell me what Takahashi-sama is writing next? Maybe the brothers know? Or anybody? Oh well. Inuyasha and Kagome r so sweet together... yeah. and I think the whole thing about Kags calling Fluffy (Sesshomaru's new name, lol) brother is soooooo funny!!!!! "Yo, brother Sesshomaru," hahaha. IY was an AWESOME series, and I can't wait for Takahashi- sama's next series. But first, a message for Takahashi-sama: have a grat summer, take a break, and ENJOY IT!!!!!!! You definitly deserve it!!!!! Go, Takahashi- sama!!!! You Rock!!!! -I know I sound crazy, so sorry. OK, I'm done now, REALLY!!!! What would happen if Ataru was made Happosai's diciple? STUFF I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT!!! |

ryogasgirl wrote: Honestly, I doubt they've even thought about it at this point. They haven't seen each other for three years and I think there's a million
things that are going to cross their minds and they're going to do/talk about before the beads ever come up. Kagome very rarely uses them anyway,
they're a reminder of how they met, and they have saved his life. Maybe IY wants to keep them on. *shrug* I do think he definitely would not have wanted
them removed when she was gone for the reason you outlined.
