Well I once asked this same question over at Anime-Eden. The answer I got was 17 in human years but it wasn't backed by any proof and 200 in demon years
which is referenced in the third movie. Inuyasha's father died the day he was born and Miouga says that his father died 200 years ago. If you wanna
consider the 50 years on the tree then he's 150 i guess in demon years. Hope I helped a little and if not I'm shure someone else can.

Alright, the most difinitive answer there is is that Inuyasha has the mentality and physical appearance of a 17 year old. That was the answer given in an
Inuyasha companion. His exact age is never given and never discussed by Takahashi-sensei herself. The third movie is of course not canon and we don't know
exactly when he was born or when his father died, so the mentality of a 17 year old is all I can give ya.

"alive" for fifty of those. I think there are a lot of really big plot holes in the story if he's much older.
But yeah the movie is absolutely 100% not canon. |

15 wow sounds a little young for inuyasha he seemed more mature (as much as he can be) than a 15 year old

Ranma 101 wrote: Think of it this way: Sango is only sixteen and she definitely doesn't act like a sixteen year old would in the modern era. Fifteen might be young by
our standards, but by the standards of the sengoku jidai he's pretty much an adult. And he seems mature at the end of the series because he's grown so
much but he starts off really and extremely immature!

To clarify she actually says fifteen, not seventeen in the book. You're absolutely right, haro. I was going by memory and I hadn't read that for awhile, so I looked it up and realized you were right and I had made a silly mistake. |

maybe they act more mature because they could have had to do more work and help out more and have a bigger responsibility in the sengoku jidai? so they get
more life expericence in that time then in the modern era????

Wow, Ranma 101, I think that you have lighted on a deep, and significant idea. Yes, I think that could be true. Plus, they have come so close to death, more
than once. I imagine that might bring someone to realize what is truly important. Also, in the old days, people didn't tend to live long, and fifteen was
probably close to middle aged.

huh. IT ALL MAKES SENSE. YAY!!!! But what about the years he was tied (arrowed) 2 a tree? He was dead, so I guess he wasn't aging, but still....
and how come, if he was totally dead, when Kagome came he woke up and said she smelled like kikyo? and told her to take out the arrow? that is one thing I think I'll never get. What would happen if Ataru was made Happosai's diciple? STUFF I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT!!! |

when inu was arrowed to the tree i don't think that he was really dead. just "asleep" for 50 years.

Movie 3 mentioned Inuyasha was 200 years old, BUT MOVIES ARE *NOT* RUMIKO'S IDEAS, so I don't mind it. I doubt that Inu is 50 + 15 = 65 , he may be
older than that.

I think he is 500 years old.

Well if your exluding the 50 years he was arrowed to a tree, then 15.

Tenken wrote:That's impossible. Inuyasha wears a clothes specific to the Heian Period and when he recalls his mother, they are in a palace specific to around A.D. 1000. The Sengoku era is around 1500s. So I think he is at least 500 years old. |

Well, I can't say I've personally seen any blatant hint regarding Inuyasha's age. All we know is that there is an aging difference between
youkai and humans; RT clearly states in the profile book on each youkai-character's page that they are "the human age equivalent of X years." For
Inuyasha, who is only half-youkai but still ages differently, he is the equivalent of 15 human years.
As far as his aging with Kagome's (which many fans are rather perplexed and/or worried about), perhaps he will be considered old enough to die when he is the human equivalent of, say, 80-100 years. Meaning he is in reality far older, but his age to us will be based off his human equivalency of an appropriate time to die. (This, of course, excluding the 50 years he was sealed to the Goshinboku. I really do not think we can give too accurate a guess based solely on the fact we don't know how long he was alive prior to that incident) Heh, I don't know - It's all so confusing. I think that's just one of those things left to our imagination. :] |

As A human Inuyasha is just really 15-16, as a Hanyou/Youkai He should be much older, this has always been a confusing topic.
