Chauvanistic? - no. It's more a lack of romance. I love the deep relationship which Kagome and Inuyasha share, but I think I would have liked a kiss at some point. Altogether, I'm not completely dissatisfied with the ending as some are and I'm glad they're married. It's a fitting end for the couple. At least it's more than Akane or Lum got. You were right, in case I didn't concede yet. You said awhile ago that you didn't think there would be a kiss at the end and I tried to argue the point, but yeah, no kiss.I'm sort of getting the vibe from a few of our female members that they might have felt the ending was a bit.....chauvinistic? Yes/no?

And it isn't as if the two of them consciously were able to choose what era they ended up in together. If they wanted to be together, it was going to be
the feudal era the way RT wrote it. It's bittersweet that she separated from her family, but people do move away from their families when they marry, very
far away sometimes. I don't have any trouble believing in the depth of Kagome and InuYasha's (romantic) bond so I'm good with this ending-
they're happy and together, as is right and good for them. As an addition, as far as male/female roles, Kagome's going to have a much more vital role
in the village than the rest of the Inu-tachi, so that says something good for the power of her, as a woman.

Chauvinistic? Well, I wouldn't go that far. Okay, let me put things a different way. I just don't think Kagome and Inuyasha got the ending they
deserved. I would have preferred to see them get more rewards; like a nice hut, cute kids, and some intimate physical affection. Yeah, the villagers might
appreciate them, but it's the ones who are closest to your heart that count the most, and we didn't get to see enough of the joys in Kagome and
Inuyasha's life together.
And, come to think of it, why not show Kagome fighting demons alongside Inuyasha? She has no babies to care for yet. Someone supposed, not to long ago, that Kagome might lose her miko powers when she consummates her marriage. Maybe that could be an explanation. But, once again, that's just making up more to the story. I appreciate the happily ever after ending, but Kagome and Inuyasha's happily ever after got less details than Miroku and Sango's.

I wanted to see more, too. It seems that's the final consensus. Most everyone wanted a kiss, but is fine without one.
But, I have to say, my heart pretty much echo's dipinmilk's. The ending was nice, but my tummy is still rumbling for that one sweet kiss, for dessert. The romance is incomplete without it. |

Back on the kissing subject, I can't recall ever seeing a romantic kiss in the entire IY manga or anime.

Well, I suppose the main reason that I was holding out hope for an InuKag kiss at the end of the series was simply because the characters had been through events which were much more serious than those of UY or Ranma 1/2 which made them seem much older than they really were. They were in true life and death situations. Also, during the chapter when Inu went to Kag's place to give her the bow, he ALMOST kissed her and, to me, that foreshadowed an actual kiss later on. But, yeah, in the end Takahashi held true to her standard and kept the romance on a deeper, spiritual level instead of a physical one.herbkir wrote: |
