The 30-min. short, titled "Black Tessaiga," will be shown July 30-Aug. 11 as part of the "It's a Rumic World" exhibit at the Matsuya
department store in Tokyo's upscale Ginza shopping district. The article on ANN said they got the original Japanese voice cast together for this project
and they recorded the voice track July 8.
So, could this be an informal market test to gauge how much life is left in the IY franchise and perhaps in RT's work in general? If the exhibit is a big hit and the new IY short proves a success, that bodes well for a final season to finish off the anime. But if this thing bombs, then we can kiss goodbye any likelihood the anime will continue. The fact they assembled the original voice cast for this short indicates to me that some of the media suits in Japan think it's not yet time to write off Inuyasha. (^_*) |

I don't know how good a gauge the art exhibition will be of interest in continuing the anime. As it isn't a travelling show, many Inuyasha fans may be
unable to attend. However the very fact that even ONE piece of new animation is being produced is an excellent sign of future animation projects (in one form
or another). I'm feeling pretty optimistic now.
As far as the series itself, its worth noting that the anime ended right around chapter 356 of the manga. The Black Tetsusaiga first appears in chapter 503. But has many other chapters which lead to its "birth". Thats a lot to skip over, but as I mentioned here I found the gap from volume 39 to 45 to be the major lull in the series. So skipping over the rest of the Moryomaru storyline wouldn't be a huge loss in my opinion. We'll see if this covers the battle with Shishinki or just the Inuyasha vs. Sesshomaru fight. Very exciting news, like I said! |

I'm shocked, pleasantly so... I still get emails everyday asking about "when more Inuyasha stories will be animated". Explaining this one will be
a little difficult to the average fan though. I do think skipping over the Goryomaru storylines are the best way to make sure the more significant storylines
get animated.
There are a few things , that I would like to see touched on if they decide to do more of these, but if this is just a one-off special, then I think this is a pretty awesome story to show, since it'll likely be the fight between Inuyasha and Sesshomaru plus perhaps a little Shishinki action. |

It seems like the seiyuu would be really happy to do more episodes as well. The article said they went out to eat after recording to catch up. I get the
feeling this is maybe just a one time thing, but it would be so cool if they made an announcement during this show of new ovas or - crossing my fingers - a
continuation of the series. I think that if it is continued, ovas are the most likely route, looking at the history of her other series.
I agree that there could be a little bit they could skip over and still give a satisfying conclusion to the series. I hope there ends up being some way or other for those of us nowhere near Japan to be able to see the video - except a bootleg |

wow. i have to say i wasen't expecting this at all. i never thought that they would make any new form of animation for inuyasha, though i have always
wanted for them to make some. maybe they might make some oav's too? who knows sbut i sure wish i could see this one. it seems to be intresting to watch.
i'm sure it will be good.
If it wasn't for my naturally wavy hair...

I'm sure if somone did that, it would be a VERY poor quality video. They would have to figure out a way to film the entire time without anyone noticing. |

I wonder if this will be seen outside Japan.
They're probably doing this Inuyasha Special to gauge the response of the viewers... probably to help them decide if they should continue the anime ot not? |

Well, my guess is that if it's at a Takahashi exibit, than people will enjoy it because most of the people who go are going because they love Takahashi. If
the're trying to guage whether an Inuyasha anime will be well received by the public in general, this may not be the best forum. It may just be a one-time
special made especially for this exibition.

Agh, that would suck. Animators work really hard...don't you think they would want to profit on having to go back and doing another episode? Don't you think a DVD release sometime after the exhibit would be reasonable? It would kill me to know that theres an episode of Inuyasha that I'll never see. |

WOW! I'm so psyched right now! This is like so pleasantly unexpected. Can't wait to see where this will take us. Either the anime will continue or not,
this is so much better than just having it being left as it was.

Since the exhibit starts on the 30th, I'm sure there'll be a camrip or other leak of the raw on the Internet shortly after, and if the video is good
quality I'd expect someone out there to fansub it quickly. In short, I expect to see it fansubbed on the Internet before the exhibition closes.
I read elsewhere that the RT exhibition will be in a large open space on the Matsuya store's 8th floor, but will be sharing the space with a womens' clothing sale. (^_*) |

Beca for sending us the images!
The new Shonen Sunday had the first image of the new "Black Tetsusaiga" anime. You're seeing it here first! |

This is from the Yomiuri Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper that did a feature article on Takahashi as well as has a quote about her next series, where she states that she "Want's it to be read by boys."Okay, so it's safe to say that her next series will be shonen. So will it be a mystery, sports, general adventure, ninja or what? It doesn't really tell us much.... Just a little question: over on the left I see Inuyasha, Ranma and Lum, but is that Kyoko on the top? It's hard to see....

Sorry, I forgot to say thanks for uploading these awesome images! I'm excited to soak up every little bit of information you may have as to Takahashi's
next series. So I guess it's also safe to say that she knows the basic plot of her next story and she might even have a few character sketches. OOOOOH
I'm just itching for the announcement of her next series. How long do you think this one will run? I doubt it will be another 12 year project, but I'm
hoping she'll make another one at least a few hundred chapters long. I know we talked about this in another thread, but you got me all excited again

Really? She wants it to be read by boys? Wow! What are the odds? I'm really excited too. Esspecialy for the new peice of Inuyasha animation. A fansub would be great, but I'm still crossing my fingers for a DVD release. |
