The Dark Knight! Must see! |

Went to the midnight showing of The Dark Knight last night, and it was sold out! The theater here was showing three midnight showings and I'm pretty sure
they were all almost full. The movie was fantastic, I'm not going to talk about the story or anything, other than to say the film was great, all of the
actors did an excellent job, and it's a nice long 3 hour movie. haha Hopefully they'll do a third one!

It really was great, lots of people wore Joker make-up. There were a lot of Heath Ledger fangirls there (re: not Batman fans). The movie was great though, and
the whole vibe surrounding it reminded me a lot of the hubbub around the '89 Batman film.

i've heard a ton of great things about this movie. i have got to see it now. everyone i talk to says it was great. i wonder if it's better than
"Wanted". so far that is my favorite movie i've seen this year. but i hope to see "The Dark Knight" soon. and if you've seen both
of the movies i've mentioned, please tell me which one you think is better.

Better than Wanted? Oh yeah, man. This movie, no film rather, is a whole allegory on terrorism and post-9/11 society. It's a big movie with big themes.

Yoiko Hibiki wrote: I see something more than that, Yoiko. It is an allegory on the battle between order and chaos. Most terrorists have outside agendas for their actions, but
the Joker does not. He just wants to have fun watching society collapse on itself in a desparate effort to maintain the order that has been disrupted. Batman
represents order, but he works chaotically to maintain order, even though he has rules he won't break to do so. The Joker has no rules, but his method of
wreaking havoc is very well planned out and structured. Who is truly more chaotic, the agent of justice who breaks to rules to enforce them or the agent of
chaos who plans everything down to the last detail? Your call. I agree that it is a big movie with big themes though.

I saw this movie Saturday -- KILLER! -- The Joker was played masterfully. He wasn't as jovial as Nicholson's. Ledger was simply, purely insane. As
MGM's saying goes, "Ars Gratia Artis" - art for art's sake, so must the Joker's saying be "Evil for evil's sake". He
planned out his acts of inciting chaos with incredible foresight, making the ends he saught to achieve contradict his means. This was truly a new and more
terrifying individual. It was clear that the writers would have liked him to be in a sequal, but it will never be
--least that's the way I see it |

the whole vibe surrounding it reminded me a lot of the hubbub around the '89 Batman film.Just how old were you during that debut!?! Saw it on Sunday. Fantastic film. Will there be a sequel? With a 64 million opening day?!?! You're damn right there will be! But what will they do to top this? You can bet Catwoman will be featured though.

I'm actually a big movie junkie, believe it or not! I love movies and I go to the theaters about 2 a month.
I saw this movie with a few friends tonight and it was AMAZING (like my main girl Kikyo)! The action sequences are the best I've seen in a movie in a long time. They are a big step up from Batman Begins which I though had messy fight scenes. They rival that of Terminator 2, which is one of my favorite movies. CGI is annoying in movies, and I enjoy how the director Christopher Nolan makes minimal use of it. All the actors were great and Heath Ledger (may he rest in peace) is absolutely phenomenal as the Joker He's genuinely creepy, and out of his mind. I love all of the little quirks in his speech; they really add something to the character. Aaron Eckhart was VERY sexy, too! Well, up until he bacame Two-Face that is... (Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I can't admire a fine looking man It's perhaps the best Batman movie that they've made so far and arguably the best movie of 2008 by far. Usually when I see a movie, I can't help but feel SOMEWHAT bored, but I was awe-inspired every minute upon watching this movie. An AMAZING effort on behalf of everyone involved. Do yourself a favor and see this movie. |

Did any of you see a little bit of Naraku in the Joker? A force of insane evil following meticulous plans to achieve chaos by exploiting people's dark
sides (ie the ferry scene)? Or maybe he was more like Ryoko Mendo; at least Naraku had some lingering attraction to Kikyo in the end. The Joker had no use for
anybody.
And yeah, it really is a pity Heath Ledger is dead; he really was the Joker. His scraggly hair and sloppily painted clown makeup enhanced the image. |

Naraku in the joker....sure! They're both insanely evil and have no qualms about using people to achieve their own ends. It doesn't seem, however, that Naraku- or at least Onigumo- had a bit more of a definite motive than the Joker who was simply a harbinger of chaos for the heck of it. How about the Shikon no Tama in the Joker? I could see that argument being valid as well.... |

I admit, that flashes of comparisons between the Joker and Naraku crept into the back of my mind while watching this show. Their meticulous planning is a
shared trait but their ultimate objectives seem to be different. Naraku always felt superior while the Joker seemed to hint that he was not by trying to prove
everyone else could be like him.
This last theme was borrowed from the wonderful graphic novel called the Killing Joke where the Joker tried to break Jim Gordon. An excellent read if you don't have it.

Saw it 3 times over the weekend, and each day the line wrapped around the theater from early afternoon till evening, I loved it and would see it again and
again! It's probably the best I've seen out of ANY of the Batman films thus far...so GO SEE it if you already haven't!! Worth every second

And today Christian Bale beat up his mom and sister apparently! Looks
like he's more Patrick Bateman than Bruce Wayne. *l*
Naah, I kid. I really like Bale's work, and he claims he didn't beat them up, so I'll take the Batman's word for it. |
