why is it that when ryoga and mousse spalshed themselves with this they turned (and were stuck in) their cursed forms?
my guess was that the curse takes priority over any effect that water has but then what would happen if they had heated up the water of the pail first?

Well, Ranma was the one shown boiling the hot water, so s/he must've been the one with the water boiler. :)

actually, i think all water from the pail will be cold, while all water from the pot will be hot. right?

Since the Waterpot of Liberation made all water in and around it hot, it's safe to assume that all water in and around the pail of preservation becomes cold. It's not that the curse takes priority, just that it's cold water.
