The most oblivious character in Ranma 1/2 |
Lead | |
|
I haven't been active for the last few days but I have to pack because I go back to college tomorrow. So one last post before I move back. Who is the most dense, ignorant, oblivious character in Ranma?
I say it is a tie between Akane being oblivous about P-chan and Kuno with Ranma's curse pchan |

I agree with that.
In OAV11 Pchan ran right down the hall with Akane looking, ran in a room and ran right back out as Ryoga. In OAV9 Kuno was looking right at Akane and Ranma when Akane splashed Ranma with cold water and he still doesnt get it |

Kuno, Akane, and then Kasumi. In that order.

Kuno, definately Kuno. Most of the Ranma characters are delusional to some extent, some more than others. Akane is pretty perceptive most of the time, except where P-chan is concerned. As for Kasumi, I think she probably knows more than she lets on. She does make a number of insightful comments during the series.

I wonder if Kasumi tries to hit on me, because she might be desperate for lesbian romance...
Oooh la la, I can sense a love triangle coming on! Me + Nabs and Kasumi...should I love them both or just one? We'll pick up the romantic drama and comedy as we see a barefoot Kasumi on the porch in her new "princess kimono" plucking petals off a sakura...(she's talking about if she loves me or not...) Kasumi: She loves me (plucks petal), she loves me not, she loves me, she loves me not...she loves me...she loves me not... Nabs: What's Kasumi doing? Me: Trying to make up for lost screentime and the "Darth Kasumi" OAV. Nabs: Oh. Well, I'm feeling a bit tense. Want to give me a backrub? I nearly put my back out when Akane was teaching me her "Anything Goes Martial Arts". I still have potential, but you and Akane have to help me out, if it's okay with you. (kiss!) Me: I'll be with you every barefooted step of the way, Nabiki Tendo, you sexy go-getter! (french kisses Nabs) Now...let's go to my room and you just relax and I'll give you that massage you wanted. Nabs: My heroine. (laughs, then we walk barefoot into my bedroom. She lies down on her tummy and has a relaxed smile on her face.) |

How about who's the most clueless/oblivious characters in all of Takahashi's manga?
Inuyasha: Kagome's Grandpa, ... that's about it I guess. Ranma 1/2: Tatewaki, Kodachi, maybe Hinako Maison Ikkoku: Nikaido, Kozue Urusei Yatsura: The Principal, Rei, Shingo Mason Proulx- Webmaster of Tomobiki-cho: The Urusei Yatsura Web Site |

I don't think Kasumi is oblivious at all. I think she the exact opposite.
After watching virtually all of the Ranma episodes, all OAVs and Movies. I think I can safely say the reason Kasumi is always so cheerful and happy is the fact she seems to have an elightened sense that everything will turnout ok in the end. This would explain how the Evil Oni didn't effect her that much and how she knew everyone would be there for Christmas dinner in "A Xmas without Ranma". This might be alot to read into an animated character, but that would be the same impression I would get if she were a real lady also. |

Perhaps because in the world of Ranma 1/2, everything usually does turn out okay? At least for the Tendo family.
I'd have to say that Kuno is the most delusional character in the series. Akane's lack of perceptiveness is limited to P-Chan; Kuno is delusional not only about Ranma's curse, but also believes that every girl in the Universe wishes to date him, that Ranma has used sorcery to enslave Akane and the pigtailed girl, and that he is the greatest warrior in the world. He is far and away the show's most delusional character. Then, of course, you have the way Ryouga always falls for Ranma's disguises, no matter how pathetic they really are. And Nodoka, who actually believes that Genma has a sense of honour. Never argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level, then beats you on experience.- Mark Twain

I think....Kuno.
I mean, he's really thick sometimes and even when (it's been said before) Ranma changes in front of him. Akane's not oblivious, I think that deep down she suspects that Ryoga and P-Chan are connected, but she doesn't wanna see it. Kasumi isn't oblivious, I agree with the statement that she sure everythink will work out just fine. |

Um, it was sense of honor, not humor. But I made the same mistake when I read it the first time, too. ---Coupling Version Sig--- ![]() I Support DoKi! Akatsuki and Doremi all the way! Kuno, definitely. He seems to think he's God's gift to women. Kodachi doesn't have too much more sense, either.

Oh, poor Kuno. He never gets a break...even if he is clueless. Actually I would say that Mikado Sanzenin definitely gives Kuno a run for his money in the oblivious department. The man's got crayon scribbles for fantasy sequences! At least Kuno's delusional fantasies are well-drawn

Hello what about Kodachi? She just like her brother doesn't realize Ranma and the Pigtail Girl are one in the same. And like her brother she hates one size while lusting after the other side. But one question came to mind do you think Tatewaki and Kodachi's brains would break if they ever found out that Ranma and the Pigtail Girl are really the same person? I mean what do you think would happen if they did?
Listen up numbskull, if Kasumi isn't back by dinnertime, we're gonna have to eat Akane's cooking, and if we do that, man oh man we're gonna wish we were lost at sea!

Kasumi, followed by Nodoka...

Re: Oblivious | ||

Chibihalo, I mentioned Kodachi in my last post.
And Kasumi isn't oblivious. It seems to me that she knows more than most people give her credit for, and she is also a very positive person as well. I still say Tatewaki is the most oblivious. He thinks all the girls in the world want to "date with" him (And that "date with" phrase bugs me for some reason) |

I have to agree that Kuno is the most oblivious person in Ranma.

Re: Oblivious | ||

The most oblivious is:
Tendo/Saotome: Nodoka - She thought Ranma was saving her in a dream. Akane - Only with Ryoga & P-Chan. Their Enemies/Friends: Tatewaki & Kodachi - Are both clueless whether Ranma or Ranma-chan appears and switches into his "alter" egos. Dr. Tofu - With Kasumi (just wanted to put that in)

Tofu's behaviour with Kasumi hardly constitutes cluelessness. Else one might say that Ryouga is 'clueless' when it comes to Akane. Or Ranma with Akane, for that matter.

What is the working definition of 'clueless' for this topic?
