The 2008 Rumic World Quiz is now online. This is our sixth annual quiz, and this year just entering will earn you a shot at a free Viz manga of your choice, so take a shot! Plus, if someone from the board wins, you'll of course get a customized tag under your name proclaiming you to be the most awesome person EVER.

I've seen fanfics where they're in high school - most of them seem really contrived. :P
but, yeah, can you imagine what middle school would be like for kagome if she went to class with youkai?  I still think it would be interesting if takahashi explained before the end of the series why there aren't youkai in the modern era. You think she will?..... |

There are some chapters that show Yokai in the modern world.
I think people tend not to see yokai. Or they purposley live away from humans because in the modern world the can no longer coexist. |

Also, most of them are not shy about massacring humans - co-existing infers that they live in relative harmony. I can understand how humans in the modern era may not see them, or may see them and dismiss it, but I still think something drastic changed between the youkai and humans sometime in the past to make their relationship so different. Why did youkai become the things of legend if they were once feared? |

Actually, I was thinking it'd be cool if we could make little tests for each series to become, say, a "Rumic World Certified Guru".
Then I could create a Userbar for each certification for use in other anime-related forums. (A Userbar is like what I have in my signature) People who pass the test would be allowed to use the userbar to show off their expertise. This could become a new trend in anime/manga fansites.  Maybe the title could relate to the series, like for a Ranma certification, it could be "Anything-Goes Martial Arts Master". For One Pound Gospel it could be "One Pound Gospel Champion". "Rumic World Traveler" for Takahashi's one-shots. etc. Just an weird idea I had floating around in my head. heheh  |

Those are really great ideas, we'd love to do things like that too. The problem on our end is that we compile questions throughout the year for the quiz, so it's very difficult for us to generate enough questions for the whole quiz, let alone for series specific things. We try to make sure we have a similiar number of questions from each series though. We were a little UY heavy this year, at least on the first draft of the quiz.
The other thing is prizes of course. One quiz makes it a little less expensive for us than four or five. I do like your ideas though, and we always want suggestions or recommendations about how to implement more contests. We'd love to do them. Also, any contests ideas are really welcome too. We've done quizzes and crosswords, but if you have ideas for other things, let us know. We try to have contests where there can be a clear winner rather than writing or drawing contests where its a little more subjective. Yoiko Hibiki Webmaster - Rumic World |
