In Ranma there's been commentary about Genma as a parent, and I think Yoiko speculated about Akane and Ranma as parents. I thought it would be
interesting to speculate about Godai and Kyoko as parents. What do you think their parenting style would be? Who do you think would be the disciplinarian?
Who would Haruka go to when she knew she was in trouble? Do you think there'd be another child in the future? If there was a younger sister, would the
two get along? How about if she had a younger brother?
What about this? Haruka was born 1987 or 88 or so. She would be of an age where she could be bringing home someone serious as a potential future husband.
How do you think her folks would react to that? Do you think Kyoko would be the type to interfere in her daughter's life, even her love life? Or do you
think maybe Kyoko could stay clear of that, knowing her own manifest irritation at the prospect? Do you think Godai would chum with his son-in-law or would he
be hard to approach?
Just some leading questions to facilitate a discussion. Feel free to branch off and go where you want with this.

I'll take a shot at this one. If Takahashi were to announce, for example, that she was restarting MI, and that it would focus on Haruka's experiences,
I'd think that she and Kyoko would be the ones who fought, whereas Godai would be the more understanding parent... with the exception of dating. I think
Godai would be a very protective dad... he might treat each suitor like he did Mitaka! Of course, there's a lot of things that would complicate this - like
whether Haruka is an only child. Personally, I very much doubt she is - I bet the Godais have a bunch of kids. I imagine they'd be more laid back with
other kids to spread the focus. Kind of like Godai's parents vs. Kyoko's. I doubt Takahashi would ever consider this, but I think MI is the one comic
she's done that really could handle a second run, picking up 20 years later. UY I like just as much, sometimes I think even more, but MI is the one I'd
really like to be continued. We talked about this at some point not too long ago, right?

It would be such a wonderful idea to see the characters in a new generation of MI zaniness!
And I do see the two (Haruka and Kyoko) butting heads a lot because Kyoko tended to have a temper w/ her mom, and I could just see Haruka trying to get Godai to side with her and Godai fearing being between the two. Godai would be a protective dad but he would also be constantly warning her about the ways of the world and the weirdos that lurk out there. I see him being very warm and loving and explaining to her why things are right or wrong and the consequences rather than yelling or freaking out if she did something. I think she would be really close to Godai because he seemed like the big kid type in college and was really good with kids, he'd probably be the type of dad who she could rely on when she had no one else.With Kyoko I think she would be very proud to be her daughter and look up to her for knowledge and experience. I don't think Haruka would be an extension of either parent, but she would absolutely carry some parts of their personalities. And since she (God forbid) wouldn't have any loss of a loved one she could bring out more of the happy young woman Kyoko once was, within her. I don't see the Godai's having only one child. She would be a protective older sister and very reliant to watch her siblings if Kyoko and Godai were ever going out, but there would probably be some funny results. I forgot about the boyfriend....I think Godai would probably chum up to him the first few times of meeting him to get a feel of what kind of person he was. He would constantly be thinking if he were OK for Haruka and maybe even invite him out alone for drinks or something to get to know him better who knows....
