I mean, I don't find something SO important for Ranma in this race to make us think that Akane should have priorized that "goal" instead of exploding with fury. It was food for some time, not the cure for his curse. Therefore, it was logical to witness a reaction like this. Otherwise, if that need was too evident, I think she would have reacted differently.
I was really surprised at Akane trying to spray Ranma with water at Kuno's place, even though she knew Shampoo would become a cat and Ranma would freak. She wanted Ranma to win, but was sabotaging his chances by bringing out the hose.
What I have to wonder is how this really cool arc became the takeout race in the anime where Ranma picked up another fiancee.
About the anime, yes, I can't figure it out too. I have always thought of anime as a big piece of fanfiction at some point xD. There are so many things that, in my opinion, are very different from the original manga essence.
Its odd but, if it was 10 years ago that Soun and Genma imprisoned Happosai, then isn't it possible that Ranma and Akane had met before? Ranma and Genma had already left Nodoka by this point but it shows Soun and Genma at Happosai's beck and call. Of course its possible (and probably likely) that Kasumi was having to stay and care for Nabiki and Akane and that Genma just left Ranma alone somewhere....actually yeah, thats probably how it was.Nice one Yusaku... I had never came to think of it. When I read your comment, I couldn't avoid remembering that pretty colorful image of Ranma and Akane playing as little kids in Akane's Lullaby (Akane no Komoriuta).
