It's black and a little over a foot tall.

11. How long ago did you encounter UY?
Now we're getting somewhere. About 7 years ago, but I've only been a fan for 5.

12. What was the first thing you liked about it?
The general light-hearted goofiness and how relatable the characters were. And how there was something kind of charming and magical about it without getting corny.

13. Whos your favorite character in UY?
Probably Ataru if I had to choose. He makes everything "go."

14. Do you own all volumes of the manga?
Yep, all 15 Wideban and a few Bunkoban

15. Did you read it when it was serialized in Shonen Sunday?
I was just a baby at the time and definitely didn't know Japanese.

16. Whats your favorite volume of the manga? (Tankobon, Wideban, whatever)
That's tough, they're all different enough to have something to recommend them, but I'd have to say I like the middle run of the series the most.

17. Do you prefer the anime or the manga?
Another hard question... It depends on what mood I'm in. The anime is where UY really shines, but it has its duds while the manga is alwas consistently good.

18. Whats a line from the manga thats stayed with you? Please tell us!
Ataru: "You think I wanna look at guys in swimsuits? There's too much ugliness in the real world..."

19. Of the original stories in the anime, which do you like most?
They're all great, but "And Then There Were None," "Shinobu's Cinderella Story," "Lum's Movie of Youth," and "Document! Who Will Be Miss Tomobiki?" and "Miserable! Roving and Loving Mother" are all gold.

20. Which of the movies is your favorite?
Beautiful Dreamer beats out Lum the Forever by a nose.

21. Do you like the pairing of Lum and Ataru?
Oh, but of course. They compliment each other nicely, and I like how they're more like siblings or best friends for most of the series, which I think is a lot more believable considering their personalities.

22. Who do you like more, Lum or Ataru?
Can't have one without the other - They motivate each other to be interesting.

23. Do you think the two really love each other?
Yeah, in their own way. Like I said they're more like siblings or friends than lovers most of the time.

24. What do you think the future has in store for the UY gang?
Things'll continue on like this pretty much forever.

25. What do you think of Ataru, with all his flirting?
He's the man. Almost the epitome of the lovable jackass.

26. What do you think of Lum, with all her jealousy?
She's awesome. Goofy, sarcastic girls are always welcome in my book. I like her more in the manga, though, where she's more down-to-earth and snide instead of sweet. It's interesting how having her in a bikini all the time makes us take her for granted almost as much as Ataru does.

27. When do you think the two fell in love?
I'd say the "Kumino Otoko" story where Lum saves Ataru from being made a fool of by pretending to be the girl he was set up with. It was the first time she ever did anything that really was nice and helped him out and the first time Ataru thought of Lum as anything more than a nuisance.

28. The love stories. Which one is your favorite? (in the manga)
The "First Date" one where Lum disguises herself as an Earth girl. It's more funny than romantic, but then so are Lum and Ataru.

29. The couples love stories. Which one is your favorite in the anime?
It's not a love story per se, but the typhoon episode has my favorite lighthearted romantic moments.

30. Whos the strongest in Urusei Yatsura?
Oyuki, of course.

31. Do you like Mendo?
Yeah, he rules. He's such a smarmy jerk, and a complete tool. Plus I'm pretty sure in the anime he's some kind of Nazi sympathizer. You know you've got a good show where you can play that for comedy and it works.

32. Do you ever want Mendo to wear an ordinary school uniform?
No, he's way too elitist for that.

33. A shock for the girl students! What do you think of Mendo being ultimately like Ataru?
No surprise there. Take that, capitalist pig!

34. What do you think about Mendo always carrying that katana around?
He thinks he gets to do whatever he wants so I'd say it works.

35. Who do you think belongs with Mendo?
I'd say Shinobu, but she'd probably get bored with him pretty fast. Asuka would stick by him but I think Mendo'd get bored with her. That's probably the way he should go, though.

36. What do you think of Atarus former girlfriend, Shinobu?
Adorable! I love how she puts on a show of being so pure and delicate, but has that hidden rough side. But like most of the UY characters, especally the female ones, she's really self-righteous.

37. What do you think of Shinobus monster strength?
It's great. She puts on such a show to the contrary but is obviously really proud of it.

38. What do you think of her terrible luck with men?
She has to deal with a lot of bums, it's true, but she expects too much, I think. She wants everything her way.

39. Who do you think has the best personality in Urusei Yatsura?
Perm/Kosuke seems like a pretty chill guy. He'd be cool to hang out with. I wouldn't mind sitting on a hill all day sipping tea and passing a pipe back and forth with Kotatsu-Neko, either.

40. That miserable girl, Ryunosuke. Do you like her?
Oh, nooooo...Not at allllll..... She's only the cutest girl ever.

41. What do you think of her unhappy state?
It's all her dad's fault, although her own uptight-ness doesn't make things any easier. It's nice to see her mellow out and get some self-esteem as the series goes on, though. I guess she just needed some friends.

42. What do you think of her father?
Best bad dad ever. He makes Archie Bunker look like Bill Cosby.

43. Do you want to see Ryunosuke in a sailor suit?
Nah, it's just not her. The struggle is more fun, anyway.

44. Who do you think belongs with Ryunosuke?
Shinobu. It's not like they've never thought about it. They'd be perfect for each other.

45. Do you like Sakura, the beautiful nurse?
She's a badass.

46. What do you think of Sakuras stomach?
It seems somehow appropriate. She's certainly a big girl.

47. Do you think she has a good relationship with her fianc, Tsubame?
Yeah, I think she likes pushing him around.

48. Do you like her uncle Cherry?
How can you not love Cherry? He's such a horrid little snob. He's supposed to be a holy man but all he does is snoop around the city figuring out ways to cause trouble.

49. How old do you think Cherry is?
50-60ish?

50. Or rather, do you think hes even human?
Better question. Maybe he used to be, but he lost it somewhere along the way.

51. Do you like Lums cousin Ten?
Yeah, he's not my favorite but the series would definitely be missing something without him. The woman who plays him in the anime has top-notch delivery of her lines, too.

52. Do you think that really he likes fighting with Ataru?
Oh yeah, he's a pretty rowdy kid.

53. Do you think hell ever beat Torajima the cat?
Yeah, but it'll be short-lived.

54. Who do you like more, Atarus father or mother?
Can't say. Ataru's mom is funnier by far but there's something about the wistful, midlife crisis-y Mr. Moroboshi, too. He's the guy Supertramp wrote that song "Take the Long Way Home" about.

55. Mendos little sister Ryoko and Ton-chans little sister Asuka. Who do you like more?
Ryoko, by a long shot. Asuka just reacts to life but Ryoko's evil machinations are a joy to watch.

56. Lums Stormtroopers, Megane, Perm, Kakugari, and Chibi. Who do you like most?
Gotta be Megane, c'mon. Between the Lum obsession, weird artsy-fartsy diatrabes, slightly ominous prediliction for communism and fascism, and great voice acting, he's easily one of the best characters in the show. He's the reason the anime is worth watching in its own right.

57. Lums friends Benten, Oyuki, and Ran. Who do you like most?
Usually Benten, but Ran's been growing on me. She's just. such. a. jerk. She's also definitely the goofiest of the three.

58. Do you think you could survive being a student in class 2-4?
I think I'd manage. It would toughen you up pretty fast. I'd offer to help cute girls with their English when I wasn't rioting in the halls.

59. Do you sympathize with their teacher, Onsen Mark?
Sometimes. He's a good guy but is way too full of himself to realize he's way out of his league. Doesn't seem to be a very good teacher, either.

61. Which UY one-shot character do you like the most?
The Bluebird of Happiness. Hi-larious.

62. Of all those bizarre gadgets in UY, which ones do you want to try out?
Between the Transformation Spray, Mind Switching Earmuffs, Fantasy Bubblegum, and the Core sand toys it's hard to pick. And wouldn't you love to snipe at people with the sex-change gun?

63. Lums had a lot of hairstyles, but which one do you like the most?
Regular, or when it's up in the back.

64. Which anime opening do you like the most?
Pajama Jama Da or Tonogata Gomen Asobase

66. Which voice actor is your favorite?
Toshio Furukawa as Ataru, by far. No one I've ever heard can laugh or scream like that.

67. Do you have any UY merch?
A poster and some of those little figurines I got in Japan.

68. Do you ever think, This anime episode sucks!?
There've been a few duds... The early Dinosaur episode and Disco episode... The "Killer Potato" episode, and a dozen or so episodes after they got the last bumper, the one with an SD Lum falling, the show starts to venture close to "jump the shark" territory, so I think it ended right when it should have.

69. Are there any stories you wanted to see made into anime episodes?
"Let's Have That Bikini!" I can't believe this wasn't animated! It's pretty visual-based so maybe they didn't think they had the time or budget to do it justice.

70. What do you think of the last anime episode?
Pretty good. They obviously saved up money and time to do it right and make it look nice. The very last shot, with the Earth and what it does was pretty clever, I thought.

71. Were you satisfied with the ending?
Yeah, but I didn't want to see them all get married, anyway. Love is only a small part of UY in my opinion.

72. Do you want them to make a UY game?
A new one'd be great. Some big production for a console where you get to riot and have crazy adventures, like a slapstick "State of Emergency," only fun.

73. Have you ever read any UY novels/fanfics?
A few, back when I was first exposed to anime/manga and would watch anything. They're almost universally dissapointing.

74. Do you think the DVDs are expensive at 4980 yen each?
Good God! I'm glad I get the US version.

75. You dont happen to run a UY-themed website, do you?
Can't say that I do.

76. If you dont, do you have plans to make one?
Someone else has already pretty much cornered the market on that one. It'd be cool if there was a place that would host UY fanart, though - it might help get what fans are out there together.

77. What about UY is able to sustain your interest for all this time?
Wow, a good question among a lot of relatively fluffy ones. I'd say how the characters are exaggerated yet somehow ring true, and the artistic, moody, and intellectual touches.

78. Do you have any UY CDs, or anything?
A few, but Kazaa has pretty much eliminated the need.

79. Do you have any Doujinshi?
Nope.

80. If not, do you want any?
Not especially. I've thought about making one in English but I've got so much else to do it's not high on my list.

81. What sports do you think would suit Lum?
Just about anything. She's pretty athletic.

82. If you had Lum dress up in costume, what would she go as?
She'd do one of those "sexy nurse" or "sexy cop" costumes.

83. What sports do you think would suit Ataru, and what about a costume?
Track or rodeo. Anything where he has to run fast or take a beating. As for a costume... Pimp.

84. Do you want them to do a remake of UY?
I dunno... It'd be cool to see it updated but I'm almost sure they'd screw it up.

85. Lum and Ataru have gone on a lot of dates, but is there anywhere else youd like them to go?
Three words: Ataru in Tijuana.

86. What do you think of Maison Ikkoku?
It's great. It's almost part of the same creative endeavor as UY, but while UY tries to freeze-frame and capture a specific time of life MI tries to capture more of a journey.

87. What do you think Lum sees in Ataru?
He's a good guy and really doesn't wish anyone harm. And he's just a lot of fun, and I think that's what Lum is after. And besides, she was engaged to Rei before, and actually seemed to be into him, and compared to Rei, at least in terms of personality, Ataru would seem like Mr. Dreamy McSensitive. And it's not like there's no precedent for high-end girls going for losers who treat them like dirt... I think Lum doesn't like Lum very much and settles for less than she can get or likes herself TOO much and has too much ego to admit she keeps choosing the wrong guy. Even though Ataru's ultimately a pretty good catch.

88. Do you think UY will continue to be popular?
Hopefully, yeah. It's a classic.

If Ataru could die, he would have already. If it came down to it, though, I think he'd try.

91. If you found yourself in the world of UY, what would you want to do?
Enroll in Tomobiki high, of course!

92. Is this your favorite Takahashi work?
Yeah, but MI isn't far behind.

93. Do you want her to write more UY chapters?
Yeah, I think so, but more of a "lost episode" kind of thing than trying to continue the story. She's the one person you can trust to do it right, and it'd be fun to see how she'd handle the characters after her art and writing have changed so much.

94. Do you think youd be taken in by one of Atarus girlhunts?
Ask parallel-universe girl Frogisis.

95. Do you want them to bring back UY?
Didn't you already kind of ask this? If it became huge again that'd be great, though.

96. Can you read UY again and again and still laugh?
Depends on the mood I'm in. I always smile, though. And if I'm not smiling it gets me to start.

97. Have you ever cried while reading Urusei Yatsura?
No, but a few stories made me all mushy.
