Eh, It was my intent and my pleasure buying the DVD. Don't think of it otherwise.

No problems. I just wanted to clarify my position on the subject. No more.

I wonder if someone will upload it on youtube. And also, it's pretty bad not to see Maison Ikkoku in it.

I wonder what the likelihood of these being dubbed is. Do Viz's rights to InuYasha and Ranma 1/2 apply to these, or are movies and OVAs a separate deal? I
would love it if they dubbed them all and released them on DVD. That also might be a good way to test the waters for a potential Urusei Yatsura release. Even
if not, I'd just like to have even one dubbed piece of Urusei Yatsura animation.

I'd be happy happy happy with just subbed and Region1. Or, happy happy with subbed and Region2 (my D-drive is set for region2). And, if worse comes to
worse and there's no U.S. release, I'll still be happy (singular) to own no-subs Region2, purchased from Japan. Just to see Lum, Ataru, Shinobu
et.al. in motion again and with modern 2D animation ... I'll probably burst out in tears.

Well, MI's not on there because it was published in Big Comic Spirits, not Shonen Sunday.
(P.S. It's ArnoldK from My Anime List...funny bumping into you here:)) Edit: That P.S. was to Rob de FR- my co-officer at the Maison Ikkoku club on MAL... --YJK, AKA Arnold Kim --------------------------- "Kanrinin-SAAAN!" - Yusaku Godai "Cowboy Bebop is NOT 'old school'!" - Me My Anime List: http://myanimelist.net/profile/ArnoldK

Not to put a damper on things, huytran, but this was a one time thing. They did one IY episode for this exhibition, but no others have been slated. So, not
really a continuation of the series...

(First post in forever, I know. I've had a lot of bull$hit to deal with in the past year)
Is it likely these will be dubbed or receive a US release? |

It's difficult to say at this point. It really depends on how they are released in Japan. If they are released as three seperate DVDs (which I think they
will be), then I think they will get licensed here and brought out (UY probably won't get dubbed, since Animeigo usually doesn't bother with dubs).
Viz would then most likely dub and release the Ranma ½ and Inuyasha OVAs. The problem for them would be selling a 30 minute special. In Japan 30 minute OVAs are sold on their own frequently, but in the US, they usually package two OVAs on one release (at the very least, nowadays three is more likely). So perhaps Viz could put the Inuyasha and Ranma ½ releases on one disc and sell them. The problem would be if all three OVAs were sold on one disc in Japan. This would be difficult in the US because Viz owns the rights to Inuyasha and Ranma ½ while Animeigo owns Urusei Yatsura. But personally, I think they'll get released as three single discs here and in Japan. |

I think that, even if they will never be officially dubbed, we will somehow see them with subtitles made by fans on YouTube, just like the show "It's
a Rumic World!" that you can find there with clear non-officially subtitles in many languages.
At least I hope it will be so, I'm very glad that after so many years they'll do something new about Urusei Yatsura, that show doesn't deserve to be forgotten. In my opinion the original japanese voices are always the best (or at least in my country, italian dubbing of Lum sucks...) so I hope i can hear original speak with accurate subtitles. For the people that don't agree with me I hope they'll do a good foreign dubbing too. |

have just watched the subtitled opening sequence on youtube(was hoping to find the whole UY segment...):works for me!
had to read thru the comments to get the "you sound just like me!" gag for Ranma & Inuyasha. can`t wait for the public release -have I read that right -early 2010? is that Japan-only,or multiple regions ie US then hopefully Europe? anybody know? |

For now, Japan only. |

Yoiko Hibiki wrote: Well, although I can certainly see that happening, I get the feeling that all three will be released on a single disc, with the crossover short as a bonus feature. Considering how these specials have been constantly advertised together, I can't help but get the feeling that they'll be released together, as well. I realize that releasing a single, thirty-minute what-have-you has been done a lot in Japan, but it feels like nowadays that's becoming a lot less frequent. Personally, no matter how it's released in Japan, I'm still hoping all three are released together in the U.S. Sure, AnimEigo holds the rights to UY over here, but teaming up with someone else never stopped them before (see UY2:BD as an example, since AnimEigo did the translation for it, but it was released by CPM), so I'm sure an AnimEigo and Viz team-up wouldn't be out of the question. Honestly, I just don't want to see UY keep getting the shaft when it comes to U.S. releases. Hasseman wrote: That is true for DVDs, though I've heard that with Blu-rays, Japan and the U.S. are the same region. I have a region-free DVD player, so I can still play Japanese DVDs just fine, but it's nice to know that if I ever get a Blu-ray player, I won't have to buy a special one to enjoy Japanese Blu-rays.

The previews are now up on YouTube!
Urusei Yatsura Preview Ranma ½ Preview Inu-Yasha Preview I can't stop watching these! Especially the UY one, since it looks like it's gonna be totally crazy! XD EDIT: Oh, crap! >.< In my excitement, I failed to realize two things. One is that I double-posted, and the other is that someone else already made a new topic for the fact that these are now on YouTube. I'm sorry. Truthfully, though, I can barely contain my excitement over this!

Double-posting?!?
OFF WITH HIS HEAD!! But, seriously, I know how you feel. I'm almost in tears over this! It's so good to see Lum, Ataru, and the whole gang in action again, the voices are as strong as ever, and the animation quality is finally up to what they've deserved all along. |
