I've seen Gary Chalk credited as 'Genma (re-dub)' on several sites, but I never see his name listed in any of the end credits for any season, ova,
or movie. On my season 7 box set's "Cast Wrap Party" Robert Smith was there, and credited as Genma in the cast list.
Which episodes did Gary Chalk do Genma's voice in? |

I checked several different sites but all they state is that he was credited for the Re-dub; never listed any episodes; sorry!!

Hmm, that's strange. I'm not aware of any episodes where Genma's voice sounded like it was done by another actor (let alone Chalk). I'm not
sure where they're getting their information from.
Being a "re-dub" would indicate it was done for some sort of editing purposes. I don't know though. If it was shown on TV and they couldn't get Smith to do re-dub some lines, that could explain it, but as far as I know, it's never been shown on TV in English. |

Well, I recently had the opportunity to ask Mr. Chalk himself. Gary Chalk was set to appear on voice actor Trevor Devall's podcast 'Voiceprint' so
I sent in my question. When the new episode came out, Trevor asked Gary my question, basically, 'Did you do the voice of Genma Saotome?' to which he
replied:
"I have no idea. Because I think it was a one-off... A one-off episode where I played, uh... oh what the he... it was some king or something I can't remember. But I have no idea, I'm telling ya..." So he might have, he might not have. The plot thickens... |
